I would like to request a traffic speed study, or at least greater speed limit enforcement, for cars traveling on East Maxwell Lane between Rose Ave and Highland Ave. The posted speed limit is 25 mph, but it's a half-mile straight shot from High Street to Highland Ave, and cars regularly travel well above the speed limit past Maxwell Terrace Apartments and several homes with kids playing outside. Given that Maxwell Lane is a signed bike route that also has a blind hill, I hope something can be done to slow speeders and reduce the possibility of accidents in this area.

Blocked Street

810 W 7th ST

The North/South alley between 810 W. 7th and 804 W. 7th is being encroached upon by gardens, woodpiles, trees/vegetation and possibly the fence and cinder block garage owned by 810 W 7th St. As a result, the alley traffic is being diverted outside of the alley right of way and onto the private property located at 804 W. 7th. This appears to have been going on for a number of years. As the new owner of 804 W. 7th St., it is my full intention to re-claim the property/property line currently being encroached upon and proceed with renovations. I request that the Street Dept contact the owner of 810 W. 7th and order the encroachments be removed. With the assistance of a surveyor, I have located the NW and SW corner pins delineating the right of way and pounded new T posts just outside of the right of way in those spots and plan to post the entire property line once the encroachments are removed. Were I to reclaim the property line today, the alley would become impassible due to said encroachments. I request your assistance in remedying this situation in a civil and legal manner, as requests to the homeowner of 810 W.7th have fallen upon deaf ears. I request that you keep me in the loop regarding this issue. I would be happy to meet with a representative of the street dept, with survey in hand, to assist in clarifying and remedying this issue, as renovations of 804 W. 7th will begin in a few weeks. The fence that was installed along the border of a vacated alley is excessively tall. Can someone come out to this location to assess the height of the fence and the shed that is even taller that was built right on the property line. This fence blocks light and is very tall from my side of the property. I have other photos of this fence from different angles, but can't upload them here due to the limit of one photo upload.

The East-West alley in this location is not accessible by neighbors. This alley has not been vacated, but is blocked on both sides by gates installed by the property owner at 910 N Madison. The gate on the east side is topped with barbed wire and makes the gate on the back of my property that used to be accessible to the alley, no longer usable. These gates also block any pedestrian traffic from walking from the Habitat neighborhood to Madison Street or connecting to the alley in the Maple Heights Neighborhood directly on the other side of Madison. The blocking of this un-vacated alley with locks, gates, and barbed wire makes it inaccessible and gives the impression that it is solely for the use as a driveway for the property owner at 910 N Madison Street. Alleys are essential connectors in traditional neighborhoods like this one for pedestrians, wildlife, as well as for neighbors to access the rear of their property. I would like to be able to access the rear of my property through the installed gate once again. I have photos that show the area I am referring to, but am not able to upload them due to the limit of one photo upload. This alley would also be convenient to many people as a connector for walking to the western side of Maple Heights Neighborhood, Tri-North Middle School, or the public Mills Pool, but it is instead blocked for public use. I would like to request that someone come out to view this site and the fences for compliance with the alley being not vacated and for the use of barbed wire.

Blocked Street

Hi, When attempting to drive westbound on Countryside Lane outside Summit Elementary, we were told by a crossing guard that they were allowed to completely block westbound traffic and would not allow us to drive in the eastbound lane due to “their walkers”. I raised a complaint with the principal several weeks ago about not only convenience, but also the fact that emergency vehicles are not able to drive through. They responded indicating that people are only supposed to be parking on the far westbound side of the street and not blocking traffic, but that is not what’s happening. How do they have the authority to block traffic and decide who is or is not allowed to drive on a public street? They said it was “for 15 minutes” but no drop/off pick/up ever takes a mere 15 minutes as parents start lining up we before school lets out.

701 N Maple ST

Most all of Maple Street is marked as No Parking, except a short distance before it intersects with 11th street. 2-3 cars consistently park in that short distance, fully occupying the right side of the road. Cars turning onto Maple from 11th cannot see when a car is approaching the intersection on Maple, and the cars on Maple are forced to stop on the opposite side of the road, causing near miss accidents daily and excessive honking. I would like to request that the “No Parking” zone be extended all the way to the stop sign as all residences (including the apartments in the photo) have designate parking areas. The intersection is also frequented by school and city busses, causing even more danger.

1. one-way sign on SW corner is obstructed by pole-saw someone turn right off Atwater yesterday. 2. Can walk symbol flash across Atwater (south side) regardless of if someone hits the button? It's same pedestrians as Indiana/3rd intersection, and that one always shows "walk." Feels safer if they had the same behavior! Thanks :)
