Nuisance Lights

Either a new streetlamp was installed or they changed the bulb in this street lamp and the light coming through my black out curtains is obscene. I feel as though my house has a spotlight shining through the windows. Can this be replaced with a different bulb or replaced with a fixture that casts the light downward rather than out?

Not anything you can do now, but this is probably NOT the species indicated on the plaque. The flowers look more like a red horse chestnut, a hybrid

The property needs to be inspected by a City official and repaired or condemned.
Under Bloomington Municipal Code Chapter 17.16, a building is considered unsafe if it is:
Structurally Impaired: Posing a danger to persons or neighboring property.
Unsanitary: Lacking adequate ventilation, light, or sanitation to protect health.
Observing this property over the last 18 months, there has been no change in this property, except that the condition is getting worse. Locals state the home has been in derelict conditions for many years.
Damaged roof.
A tarp does not constitute a roof.
There is no ventilation in the house or working exhausts.
Windows do not open/close.
No heating or cooling in the structure.
Dangerous electrical resulting in the occasional use of a small light.
No plumbing in the structure.
Resident carries buckets of water from nearby and can be seen washing his hair and body outside of his front porch.
No functional bathroom inside the home. Occupant cannot flush waste properly.
The entire place appears to be a fire hazard.
Evidence of structural fire damage that may also impact the electrical and plumbing concerns.
Overgrowth vegetation and weeds.
Inoperable vehicles in front and behind the unsafe structure.
The severe neglect of this property is diminishing the quality of life for the community and hindering its overall desirability.
The dilapidated condition of the property presents a substantial public eyesore and poses a detriment to the neighborhood character.
Please take action to keep Bloomington beautiful and avoid causing a serious decline in neighborhood standards for the entire City of Bloomington.

I’m writing to express concern about the current condition of the Twin Lakes Recreation Center. As a member for several years who regularly participates in several of the free classes offered, I’ve seen the facility over time and feel it’s important to share these concerns.
While the Center has great potential, several ongoing issues are significantly impacting the overall experience.
First, the lack of music in the workout areas makes the environment feel uninviting and low-energy. Music is a basic expectation in most fitness spaces and plays an important role in motivation.
Additionally, much of the equipment appears outdated and in need of replacement or maintenance. This not only affects usability but can also raise safety concerns. Along those same lines, the furniture throughout the facility is worn and visibly old, which contributes to an overall impression that the space is not being adequately maintained.
There are also operational issues that need attention. Broken clocks throughout the facility make it difficult for folks to manage their time effectively during workouts or classes. On top of that, the limited class availability does not meet the community's needs, especially for those who rely on structured fitness options. It would be nice to have multiple time slots for the HIIT and Bootcamp classes!
Taken together, these issues create an experience that falls short of what a community recreation facility should provide. I hope these concerns are taken seriously and that improvements can be made to better serve the community.
Thank you.

The lights installed at the RCA Park Pickleball Courts are incredibly bright and send light hundreds of feet into the surrounding park, the woods near the park, and the surrounding homes close to the park. It is a real disruption to those of us who live near the park and I am also concerned about the disruption it has on local wildlife. Would it be possible to have the lights adjusted in some way to reduce the overall light pollution either by lowering their output or changing the angle?
I have photos of the issue I can send if that would be helpful.

The discharge from the sewer continues. Yesterday the plumbers were here and left all of the debris on the street and garden. The cleaning did not work and now the sewage water has backed up to the clean out and sipping through.

Cheyenne ~ I got an email from you earlier today, but couldn't respond to it. Thank you for looking into this matter. I wanted to update that this week we have had 2 cars broken into. The neighbors are concerned about the dark street. Thanks again ~ Vickie
P.S. I am a homeowner, but because I sit on the Board I field lots of complaints/concerns from residents. You may received other UReports, if so please respond to my email so that I can update the entire HOA.
