Street Trees

1. Thank you for replacing the High St and E Southdowns signs so quickly when they disappeared. 2. The issue: There are bushes growing on a wooded lot on the northwest corner of the intersection at High St and E Southdowns Dr. Cars heading south on High Street and those trying to get onto High St from Southdowns can't see each other until the last second. (I tried to include a photo but my request wouldn't submit.) It is common enough for drivers on High St to roll through the stop sign or just barely tap their brakes. There haven't been any accidents that I know of but there is great potential. Can the bushes be cut back?

4 Way stop request: Eller Rd & Garrison Chapel Rd.
This intersection is currently a two way stop. Traffic stops on Eller at both sides and Garrison Chapel does not stop. This should be changed to the very least a 4 way stop. It has very poor visibility issues especially when turning left or right from Eller onto Garrison Chapel due to the hill on Garrison slightly south of Eller. I have lived at this intersection 3 years and have seen three major accidents where people have sustained serious injuries. This morning (4/28/23) a school bus turning left onto Garrison Chapel from Eller was Tboned by a truck and the driver of the truck sustained some serious injuries. This area also has poor cell service, so if we hadn't been home I don't know if they would have been able to make the call out for help as that intersection has no service.

Leaf blowing riding-mower abuse. The riding mower, attached with a leaf blower, driven by a city employee, Wednesday April 26 at 12:30pm, was being used to abuse the soil and surrounding greenspace. The shoulder of the west spur trail, at the southern end of the Switchyard Trail, was being subjected to harsh blower force and hostile behaviour. This force and speed created a billowing soil-cloud that rose 50ft above the trail and continued to float towards the creek 300 ft in an east direction. This environmental abuse was viewed from the Bloomington Rail Trail parking lot and witnessed by two city employees and five volunteers. From this vantage point we were able to see the leaf blower mechanism had a diameter of 12-18". The speed and noise of the mower drew our attention. The previous day, I had conducted a survey and recorded invasive plants along this portion of the trail. This slender strip of greenspace did not have leaves to be cleared from the trail, nor did it need to be mown. In addition, I observed the ground cover habitat being used by a pileated woodpecker as it foraged for food. Treating habitat in this way destroys important food sources, is a breathing health-hazard, is abusive, and demonstrates hostile behaviour.

I drove from Menards to 45 on Liberty Dr. in the rain last night. Lane markings were nearly invisible on the wet road surface. When I turned southwest bound on 45 I nearly hit the concrete median because it was indistinguishable from the road surface. Reflectors and reflective lane paint are needed on this entire stretch of road. Reflectors and/or a reflective sign needed on the median on 45.

Sidewalks needed on Walnut St. Pike between Winslow and Rhorer Rd. There are brief stretches of sidewalk on different sides of the road, forcing pedestrians to choose between making a dangerous street crossing to stay on a sidewalk or to walk in a ditch. Winslow and Rhorer are both pedestrian heavy areas. This issue will only get worse when the new subdivision is built.
