Military helicopters over the city at night? Not ok! Maybe some warnings next time?

If the military and police were planning to engage in night training this evening, WHY was the public on the south side of Bloomington not notified? Many residents were scared and are extremely angry they were not informed. People were outside wondering what was going on. The helicopters were flying incredibly low over our houses, literally shaking our homes. Social media was lit up with reports of loud booms, police, shooting, and people were scared. This was irresponsible for Bloomington residents to not be notified.

Please turn back on the water fountains in the city parks. The CDS has advised that the risk of surface transmission of COVID-19 is minimal. Not having access to drinking water during these hot days is likely causing more harm than turning the fountains back on.

I believe the City owes an explanation to its citizens regarding the military maneuvers that took place last night just outside Switchyard Park. Those were Special Operations Aviation Regiments apparently performing training maneuvers in the midst of a residential area. There are training areas all over Ft Bragg, Quantico and Ft Campbell that look like towns & buildings, where they can actually use live ammunition to do these types of maneuvers. I understand our military needs to train - but why Bloomington? It seems way out of the ordinary.

I just received this response from Closed by Melissa Hirtzel The City was not aware of the exercise nor the events that were going to take place. Please call BPD at 812-339-4477. Interesting...as the Office of the Mayor reported on their FB page that the Office of Mayor WAS aware of Monday night's national security exercise and was notified ahead of time. Get your stories straight!!

Potholes, Other Street Repair

Just checking in on closed case, thank you. Could sure use some asphalt thrown down if delay in paving Pickwick will be long. #175370 Potholes, Other Street Repair: Other: As rain come downhill on the street, it sometimes overwhelms our drainage tunnel. Over the years this created a line of crumble in Pickwick, in the last two years this has become a serious hazard for bicycles, pedestrians and not too good for our cars. Is there a chance we could get some blacktop put down on this? I'll be taking bids to resurface my driveway this summer, and it would be best if the street was repaired before this work gets done. Thank you!
