Hello - I wanted to ask if the city could do a better job decorating for Christmas this year. We moved up from Florida last year and was very surprised that there was no Christmas tree in the city center, and meager decorations -- just some strings of white lights on the courthouse. It didn't feel festive or beautiful or special. It's important, maybe not for students, but for families, older people and also business owners, I would think, to have a festive, Christmas-y and beautiful downtown. Please, Bloomington, put up a big Christmas tree this year on or around the courthouse square, and have a special lighting ceremony, with Christmas and holiday music. And do Christmas decorations on the lamp posts on Kirkwood, and maybe string lights over the avenue (like in the photo attached here, of Clematis Street in West Palm Beach). It's these things that make a town really wonderful. Or not. Thank you, Margaret Menge
My friend, who uses a wheelchair for mobility, and I went to the Office Lounge on Saturday night. While the building is accessible the bathrooms are not. The door was not wide enough for him to enter and he has a small manual chair. A larger motorized wheelchair would not fit either. The manager apologized and offered to clear the women's bathroom, but he had already looked at the door and determined it was not wide enough either. Besides that, I don't think offering another genders bathroom would count as accessibility? I know the OL has been around a long time and I assume there is some grandfathering of pre-accessibility guidelines, but at some point don't they have to come "up to code"? Is that only if they do renovations? How long can they remain un-accessible? I hope there is someone who can address this issue because we would like to be able to visit the OL again, but will not if he can't use the restroom while there. Thank you for your help!
Bryan Park big kid playground - the 3 ladder arches to the slide down poles. One ladder is missing a screw and the one screw there doesn't have a nut.

To the Department of Transportation, Could you please update me on what is going on with the traffic light in front of Batchelor Middle School at the corner of Gordon Pike and S. Rogers Street? For a while this summer it functioned as a traffic light rather than a four-way stop. I assumed that when school started it would be used as a traffic light again. In addition, I was told at the Batchelor Open House that the city has told the school they can't use the new lane they installed to allow traffic to flow through at drop off time (7:30-7:45). I understand the hesitation with using this lane, as it could upset the north/ south traffic. However, I have noticed after a week of drop-offs, that there is rarely any traffic going south on Rogers at that time. Perhaps the lane could be opened to right hand turns only. If the traffic light were used during that time period it would help the traffic flow much more smoothly. It is currently backed up a quarter mile south on Rogers and west on Gordon Pike which would be eased by a traffic light at that time of day. I am sure many other BMS parents and south side commuters would love to know what is going on with this intersection. Thanks, Eve Cusack
The West side multi-use path on Rogers Street between Patterson and Rockport, and most notably the section between the Hillside intersection and Cherokee Drive needs cleaned/serviced. It is covered in road debris and gravel/glass and is beginning to be unsafe for biking. I busted a tube and tire on my commute from Cherokee Drive yesterday morning riding over debris. Thanks for your help!
West 17th Street, between the new Vernal Pike overpass and the roundabout at Monroe Street is in terrible shape, especially the eastbound lane. The road surface is broken up, especially on the edges, and the road is too narrow to avoid the rough areas.
This morning I was bike commuting to work when I had a near miss at the intersection of Smith Road and Morningside. A car on Smith Road going towards 10th St. did not give me the right of way. Luckily I never assume a car would give me the right of way at a stop intersection so I was able to stop in time. These events occur sometimes on my commute. However, I decided to contact you because the same happened yesterday, another car, another time of the day. Would it be possible to place extra signage in that area, e.g. Beware of bicycles and pedestrian?
