Traffic Signals

High St & Hillside Dr

Case Date:
3/26/2026

There is a history of this traffic light incorrectly perceiving a vehicle traveling south on High Street in the lefthand turn lane wishing to turn onto Eastbound Moores Pike. It's been reported and fixed at least once in the past, but the issue has returned and has been present for several months at least. The result is the left turn arrow coming on unnecessarily. This delays northbound traffic on High Street as there is often no southbound vehicle trying to make a left turn. (To drivers on northbound High Street, it appears as though all directions of the light are red simultaneously since there is no traffic flow.) Any help in fixing this would be appreciated by many. Thank you! :)

Street Lights

Case Date:
3/20/2026

The street light in front of my house provides light indiscriminately, as do all the lights in the neighborhood. Does the city have any plans to work with Duke to replace the fixtures to ones (possibly more energy efficient - saving money in the long term) that direct the light toward the ground to reduce the light pollution? I asked Duke about the one near me and their response was to contact the city. Thank you for your consideration.

Request a new Street Light

Case Date:

You have elevated concrete all over the roads now. You have little triangles at the intersections that you have curbs to mark off the bicycle lanes, you have medians with trees on them, and you have high curbs and narrow roads like on Sare Rd just south of Moore's Pike. But what you don't have in many of these areas with concrete structures rising 8 to 12 in off the ground, is STREET LIGHTS!!! So, a person driving at night has difficulty seeing these structures, and, in my case, I did damage to the underside of my car because I drove right up onto one of these triangular concrete structures at an intersection. I've also hit the high curb on Sare Rd, where you are driving precariously between a risen concrete median and a high curb, making the road very narrow and of course, it is unlit. I know that you guys want to keep up with the latest "progressive" trends of Europe (as if it were not failing in every way so I don't see why), but really, use common sense and put some street lights wherever you're going to put these high concrete structures in the road. Because at night, and especially when it's raining or snowing, it's practically impossible to see these structures sometimes and the result is, one does damage to one's car, courtesy of the city of bloomington, to which I happen to be paying my local taxes to support this lunacy.
