Street Trees
411 E Saville AVE
- Case Date:

This is a private tree but it is a huge Pin-oak and almost all dead on the top with huge dead limbs perilously broken off and part of it hangs over the street. Seems dangerous for people to drive or walk under.

Bus Services (Bloomington Transit)
3131 N Valleyview DR
- Case Date:
- 5/23/2022
The city bus routinely drives through the Fritz Terrace neighborhood too fast. I don’t have a radar gun but the speed limit is 20 and they are obviously going over. On Saturday 5/21 sometime around 3:00 I believe the bus hit and killed a neighbor’s dog near 3131 Valleyview and continued their route. I did not witness the event but was told by a neighbor the bus stopped for a moment at the same location the dog was hit, near the same time, then continued on. I would like the transit department to identify who the driver was and see what the story is on why they did not stop and try to help or identify the owner of the dog, or if I am mistaken and the driver claims it was not them and perhaps maybe they witnessed the event and could provide more details.
Even without the issue of who hit the dog, the bus needs to slow down and not exceed the 20 MPH speed limit. There are lots of kids in this neighborhood, the streets are narrow and the curve at the top of the hill is a blind spot for oncoming traffic. Please address this issue before someone gets hurt or killed.
Utilities Construction
201 E Gilbert DR
- Case Date:
- 5/24/2022
I spoke with two Martha Street residents who mentioned that they are seeing many people taking a short cut through the culvert that runs east-west between Matlock Heights and Lower Cascades. They indicated that following some utilities work, they were expecting workers to install a No Trespassing or Private Property sign to deter such foot traffic, but that no such sign has been installed. Could you follow up and see what might be done at this site? Thanks!
Street Lights
1720 N Kinser PIKE
- Case Date:
- 5/25/2022
Light to turn north/left on Kinser Pike from S.R. 46 heading east is very short. I see only 3-4 cars able to turn left until the light turns red then flashes yellow. During rush hour the turn lane backs up into the grid area and into the first straight lane causing traffic continuing east on 46 to swerve around into the next lane. I see many cars run the red turn light because the light to turn left is so short.

Drainage or Runoff
1303 N Hancock DR
- Case Date:

The ditch area, and currently un-mowed area on N Hancock Drive on the west edge of Crestmont Park, is CBU Street Department area. In an effort to reduce carbon footprint by mowing this strip seasonally, to decrease stormwater runoff into the overloaded culvert during rain events and to increase sustainability, native tree growth and pollinator habitat, this area could easily be a no-mow area. There are no overhead power lines at risk of native trees growing tall in this area. In addition, during an Adopt-a-Greenspace site survey it was noted invasive Tree of Heaven is growing in several spots along this strip. The Tree of Heaven MUST be chemically controlled and not mowed or more TOH trees will emerge. Crestmont Park and surrounding Crestmont landowners are engaged in supporting their woodland landscapes. Adding a no-mow strip along N Hancock is in keeping with the surrounding greenspace. I propose this strip be slated as a no-mow area for the above reasons. Thank you. Please note, the Tree of Heaven has been mapped for Vegetation Management to control.
Thank you, Gillian
