Hello-There are regularly cars blocking the bike lane on Washington between 4th and 3rd St's a bit after 6pm.I wonder if there's a way for the city to make it clear to ride share drivers and customers of DaVinci that this is illegal and that they cannot block the bike lane. When there are 3-4 cars parked in the bike lane here, it really is no longer a bike lane and instead is a pick up/drop off zone. "Sending people to patrol the area" is definitely not working.
Thanks!

Cover to my main H2O shutoff at the street apparently was buried by dirt when they installed the fiber box on the SW corner of my lot. Today I was Unable to locate cover without metal detector to keep the vegetation clear of it. I have a plumbing project coming up that I’ll need to shut off the water at the street this summer. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Dear City of Bloomington Representative,
I am writing to formally request the consideration of an ordinance prohibiting the use of engine brakes (commonly known as “Jake Brakes”) on E 3rd Street West of SR 446 into Bloomington.
This stretch of road, being a key route with both residential and commercial presence, frequently experiences disruptive noise pollution from heavy trucks utilizing engine brakes. As a resident in the area at Summerhouse, I can personally attest to the significant impact this has on daily life and overall well-being. The frequent noise not only disrupts daytime activities but also affects my ability to sleep soundly at night, compromising rest and health.
Supporting Evidence:
1. Noise Pollution and Health: Studies have consistently shown that chronic exposure to high-decibel noise—like that produced by engine brakes—can contribute to sleep disturbances, increased stress levels, and even cardiovascular risks. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), noise above 55 dB is considered harmful, and engine brakes often exceed 80–100 dB.
2. Ordinance Effectiveness: Many municipalities across the U.S. have adopted engine brake ordinances in residential areas to reduce noise pollution and improve quality of life.
3. Local Impact: Given the residential density and commercial activity along E 3rd Street, enforcing a restriction would bring it in line with common noise abatement practices, ensuring a quieter, more livable environment for its residents.
I believe that introducing this ordinance would not only improve the quality of life for residents but also align with community standards of noise control and public health considerations.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter further and provide any additional information that may be helpful.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Paul Laudeman

Our neighborhood recently had our sidewalks updated to be ADA acceptable and with that our driveway and sidewalk by our house was tore up. The photo above is a spot in the sidewalk they did not fill with concrete and is a hazard to anyone walking. They also left big gaps in our yard where they fixed the sidewalks which is another hazard. If we could have someone come out and look and fix this issue so no one gets hurt.

I would like to request that the "volunteer" workers that are cutting new trails into a state-designated nature preserve across from my home be stopped immediately. The state designates "nature preserve" land to be preserved for natural ecological functions. It's the highest protection the state can place on natural land. These "volunteers" are cutting new trails which increases the spread of invasive species. The ecological integrity of these precious few acres is already compromised by the proximity to homes and these new and poorly designed trails are adding to the stress and degradation of this natural space. They are using lawn mowers and power tools which disrupt nesting bird habitats. They cut one Asian Honeysuckle allowing several more to take its place. Trash bags with refuse are left for weeks by these volunteers. I understand that the intentions are to remove invasives but what is actually occurring does nothing but spread the same invasives. It is a misguided effort and needs to cease immediately. I have a Master's degree in Park and Public Land Management from IU and have seen this happen numerous times in other locations. In this case it seems that a small group of volunteers desired a walking trail next to their neighborhood and began "volunteering" to create these trails. While not a big deal on private land, these particular lands are designated by the state for the highest protection possible. I would be more than happy to discuss this further and suggest some alternative activities for this group of volunteers. You have my email and I hope we can come to a resolution that will stop the infringement of these state-protected lands. Thank you for your time.

I was walking past the Crew Carwash while cars were being pre-treated on the front of the cars with bug and tar remover. The wind was blowing the mist from the chemical used for this, straight at me. Some bug and tar pre-treatments at car washes can contain acids and refined petroleum chemicals. Although many contain citris, they usually can also cary chemicals that can cause reprirory and skin issues. I noticed that there is no protective wall that was installed to protect pedestrians and I belive that such a wall is common practice with businesses that do not wish to expose pedestrians to their car wash chemicals. Even if it were merely a strong car wash soap spray, this too can be a health risk to pedestrians who inhale this as they walk past a car wash.

Bicycle parking is never good for the Saturday Farmer's Market, but today it was exceptionally problematic.
When I first arrived I was able to lock my trike but when I had trouble accessing my lock and when I did get to it two helpful young men assisted by lifting my trike to free it from the pile.
I am 75 years old. This was hard.
My trike is ADA compliant but it is not compact. I don't take it into the market, but my walking ability is limited so don't tell me about the bike racks that are blocks away from the market.
Please do better with bike parking convenient to the market
