There are a couple folks sleeping in the pavilion area and one tent erected on the nature trail. Have seen them the past few days taking my dog for a walk. Not sure if these are folks experiencing homelessness but figured city should be aware.
Graffiti on the retaining wall of the Covenator cemetery, on the South wall.
On the outer loop of the trail (at the bottom of the hill if you enter left where the pavillion is) there's a tent that I believe someone is living in. Was hoping to guide this individual to the Homelessness Resources department if possible. Thanks
have been experiencing homelessness issue in shelters, with overnight sleeping. complaint of physical and verbal fights that have caused disturbances to public safety during the day and after hours
Two men have been living in this shelter for at least a month. They bathe in the tap, cook on the grill, and sleep in the shelter on the picnic tables. Their exclusionary use means no one else can use the shelter. They seem nice, but the shelter is not for long-term camping.
There are three downed trees blocking the forested trail between upper Olcott and the Jackson Creek playground (by Rogers Family Park), plus a couple very large branches. Another tree has fallen over the new southern trail extension (leading to Rhorer from the Jackson Creek playground), squashing the wooden rail fence between the trail and the nearby homeowner's gravel drive. There is also a large branch blocking the forested walking path on the east side of Olcott's football field.
Graffiti has appeared on the walls of the underpass between Rogers and College. There is a standing policy to eliminate the graffiti as soon as it appears to discourage the criminals who deface public and private structures that it is futile to deface the structure in question. This was and is the policy of former Mayors Tomi Allison and Mark Kruzan and the current Mayor John Hamilton. Is this policy going to be enforced? i have contacted Tomi Allison about what i have observed
light 119 does not come on in the evening. if this is considered a "street light" even though it it on the trail, let me know. thanks
Just south of lamppost 117, on the east side of the b-line, is a statue that is structurally defective. Every time I see it, it is at a different angle. Sometimes it hangs into the path. It is scary and dangerous for cyclists, as it hangs at eye level when it extends into the path. If this hazard existed on a road, it wouldn't last one week but it has been allowed to damage bike&ped infrastructure for years. The scrapyard is right across Rogers. You know what you have to do.
