Mayor Thomson has asked that we let our voices be heard about the Hopewell PUD. My voice says that the administration should not be rushing ordinances through that have not had the proper time to be reviewed. Is this a good proposal? Maybe! But follow the letter of the law. Mayor Thomson’s letter was tantamount to bullying council for following the law. We get enough of that at the federal level. Please do better in the future and think about tone and process more than looking good to campaign donors.

Coffee with the mayor: wow. Asking us to like the social media videos while not addressing any actual difficult questions. Just save the money next time.

We wanted to hear the MAYOR answer the tough HR related questions. HR is the problem, not the answer. The coffee event was not advertised as fun-only; we don't want pastries, we want answers and acknowledgement. You really did not understand the assignment.

After reading ureport #208617, we find it extremely rich that the Deputy Mayor would use the terms “consistent standard” and “Integrity” in the same statement she mentions the City’s HR department. Considering everything that has been allowed to happen and continues to happen in the HAND department.

Trash

FYI - Regarding https://bloomington.in.gov/crm/tickets/view?ticket_id=205604 - My wife and I collected 1 full city provided blue trash bag of trash on 5th and 7th between Union and Hillsdale after the trash pickup. Many residents of Green Acres are still leaving bagged trash, which is scattered by wildlife, or left, and sometimes in the road having missed the target when being dumped.

Will you *please* re-enable the map feature on uReports? See case# #206286. It is understandable that it needs to be upgraded/"rewritten" - it has been a bit persnickety lately - but why not keep the one that's been used for a long time by a lot of people until you have a new one to replace it, rather than just disabling it while you figure out how to improve it? It makes *zero* sense to turn off a functional and useful feature that needs some updating while it still works fine, and not explain fully why that was done.

Smoking continues to occur around north CH entrance, trash enclosure, bench/covered rest area, etc. This does not meet the no smoking regulations per city policy or state law. When raining smoking occurs under awnings near entrances and between county and city. Being subjected to this as a resident walking through or a worker walking through is not great. Please address this.

For City Council members to review: Per City when describing work experience, “Generally, internships, seasonal jobs, and temporary part-time (TPT) positions with the City -as well as internships and volunteer work outside the City- are not included”. How is that ethical or correct in any capacity? Paid labor whether seasonal or part time is just that - labor, work, experience. This notion clearly shows bias towards those with the privilege and advantage of not having to work part time to attain degrees, certifications, etc. in order to finally attain a full time role. How is one supposed to gain experience if the means of getting experience - internship, part time, or otherwise- is not counted as such? This seems like a very biased internal policy decision and means of discounting experience for employees accross the board. This should be highlighted and inquired about in the upcoming council meeting, regardless of outcome for the legislation to be read (no one wants to hold back employees even further).
