Bethel Lane construction. For weeks this community has continually been taken hostage by a private company attempting to “fix” water lines. This company continuously blocks traffic at unnecessary times. It seems to always when school is letting out that they decide to keep traffic stopped, even though they, and the City ya ensured the county they would not hinder this traffic and work with the schools for ease of traffic flow. I find it extremely frustrating that the City of Bloomington would care so little about about it’s residents and families. This heavy traffic and blocked traffic pattern has cause myself and many others late from picking up a child at school or getting home to get a second child attending a different school. I hope that some one from this office or one from above can look at these many projects around Bloomington and actually manage them in accordance to the community and just not profit margins and revenues.

The City of Bloomington government has done a horrific job with the B-Line Trail detour due to the trail closure in Switchyard Park. But, the City of Bloomington government has a history of doing a horrific job with all things traffic, roads, and detour related, so I guess in the end: who is surprised? The detour was announced on October 23rd via the Office of the Mayor's Facebook page stating it would last for about 2 weeks. Local news sources reported on that fact as well. Now, 22 days later the trail is still closed. I had to call Parks & Rec to ask, because no updates are available online. I called because I need to get into town but the detour path is not safe. Last time I rode the detour it had a lot of gravel, sand, overgrowth, and other hazards. I do not understand why the City cannot at the least keep people updated on the closure when it goes beyond the stated 2 weeks from the Mayor's office. And, maybe going a step further, clean up the detour path? I know, I know - maintaining a multi-use path would be a lot to ask in this town.

Hi, First, thank you for removing the leaves from Park Ridge Park, the excellent park in the Park Ridge neighborhood, in April. Now, it seems like it is in need of a little bit of post-winter care. The areas where the leaves laid overwinter have become bare (see the picture). This is a spot that the Parks Department has worked hard trying to recover before and I suppose it is time work on it again. There are also other bare spots in the park where leaves had laid over winter (by the shelter - to the east) and for some unknown reason to the south of the swings. Could these areas please be addressed with grass seed and straw to make sure that park stays maintainable, that the structures don't end being compromised by erosion, and to make the park less of a mess after a rain? Also, the mulch covering the area underneath the playground structure may need refilled, in particular underneath the swings. Finally, is there a regular schedule under which these aspects of the park(s) get addressed? I am sure there are priorities and limited resources. We do not want to bother the department - if we knew that this maintenance would be done (based on a known schedule), then we would only have the thank yous to include instead of a thank you and a request. For the entire 12 years we have lived next door to our neighbor, Roger Reading, 2403 N. Browncliff Ln., he has left piles of trash and inoperable cars on his property. We have asked him many times to clean it up, and he occasionally has complied, only to resume using his driveway and surrounding area as his open trash can and junkyard. He fills the unused cars with trash, throws trash on the ground (sometimes right next to trash and recycling bins), animals get into it and spread it around, etc. The current tally of neglected cars is 6--one in his open garage, surrounded by garbage, and five in his driveway (part of which we share as easement to Browncliff). I was once also in his home as per his invitation to help him locate a waterline break. It is also filled with trash and is in a state of utter disrepair. The one photo you allow me to attach does not come close to doing justice to the extent of this mess. We are tired of allowing him to affect our sanitation and property values. Why for having such a vibrant and significant LGBT community does the City have basically no local recognition and programming? The City does a great job at promoting the Latino, black, women, children, and many other communities and groups. But as far as I know we have no LGBT affairs commission, no awards recognition, etc. Maybe I'm wrong? But none of my friends know either. It's more than about not being discriminated against, it's about celebrating a unique and important part of local culture. Thank you. Hope to see this changed. I know the mayor is a personal ally but how about showing it in office. There are so many things that can be done to do better on this front.

Resident Miklos Santorini contacted the Office of the Mayor's Facebook page in October detailing the presence of medical waste at 718 S. Rogers. Santorini stated that, "This building is part of the hospital complex. There has been a build up of of trash, garbage and even bodily fluid specimens behind the dumpster there for over 2 years. I have tried contacting the hospital about this, but the PR people say it's a problem with the waste hauler, not them." Our intern contacted HAND at that time. A rep from HAND stated that they would be sending a neighborhood compliance officer over to take a look. Santorini contacted us again today (Jan 29, 2019) about the same property stating that, "...there is a buildup of medical waste around the dumpster. Vials of blood and urine, etc. I walked by today and it is still there, just more rotten and frozen. Does anyone in the city have the ability to at least check this out and maybe have it cleaned up?"

Ever since John Hamilton got into office, street service has been terrible and today is no exception. I walked Lincoln from 10th to 6th and was slipping all over because there was no salt or sand and there was at least 2” of snow on the street. I don’t dare take my car out for fear of getting stuck, which is bad because I have meds to pick up. Please see to this ASAP. Thank you.
