ATT and smithville were both doing work in the alley earlier this year. They dug a trench across the alley. They filled it in when done but now the trench is collapsing.
Please post an update on the Vernal Pike/Seventeenth Street project. Seventeenth Street was closed in April 2019 and was to be reopened in November 2019. When will the street be opened?
I'm writing with a suggestion. I spend quite a bit of time walking and running within Bloomington. Outside of the B-line (where my experience has been mixed), I find that car drivers rarely yield to pedestrians and marked pedestrian crosswalks. I wanted to suggest that the city consider adding flashing lights to the signage at crosswalks, in the hope that it would make drivers aware they're approaching a crosswalk, and be more likely to yield to pedestrians. Alley is impassible without scratching vehicle due to growth hanging over from the yards.
Bush at the corner of the property near the intersection needs to be trimmed back to make traffic more visible. The bush makes it hard to see oncoming traffic coming over the hill toward the intersection.
He lives at 311 N Jefferson St and can not see to pull out safely from his driveway.
Safety issue/Excessive growth at 820 w. 2nd street. This property has excessive growth that obscures the line of sight on Euclid Ave for west-bound traffic on 2nd street. Note that this property has had a prior complaint in July 2015.
Who is responsible for trimming back all the vegetation blocking the sidewalk along the south side of Azalea Lane between Walnut Creek and Winslow Farms? The sidewalk is impassable causing pedestrians to walk on the narrow roadway.
The new median installed seems like an addition to try to help pedestrians make a safe transition across the street. I think that’s a great step as I often have worried about students at dismissal from south trying to safely make their way across that intersection to the bus stop. However as it currently is, it is not safe for drivers & maybe not even pedestrians. I watched 2 cars drive right over it just after dark, one definitely popped a tire. When I passed it another time I noticed multiple tire marks over the median. There does not seem to be clear enough markings on the median to warn drivers that they need to swerve to the side to avoid it. This is certainly true at night, yet I believe may be true during the daytime too as there are no signs or markings to show that the driver must shift to the right around the median or slow down in any way. Perhaps this measure taken to try to improve safety is actually more dangerous to all. A pedestrian may have a false sense of safety standing on an unmarked median that is not early visible or marked for cars to see. Can it be made into an official crosswalk with proper signage and clear expectations for drivers to slow, be aware and stop for pedestrians? Please take steps to make this safer for drivers and pedestrians. If school ever resumes this seems even more dangerous than it was before the addition of this median. Thank you!
