The City needs to find a better way to keep the 7th Street bike path clear for cyclists. On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, around 9:25pm I was biking with a group of cyclists. We were headed east on 7th Street in the bike lane. As we crossed College and headed towards Walnut, every single cyclist had to exit the bike lane and ride in the lanes of traffic because a pickup truck was going in reverse down the bike lane. The truck had its white backup lights on and was moving from Walnut back towards College, fully in the bicycle lane blocking both lanes of bicycle travel. This is classic Bloomington infrastructure. Poorly designed, used incorrectly, and the people it is meant to benefit are no better off.
Bush and tree overhang blocking path more than used to. Plus general deterioration.
Resident reports an overhanging tree that is blocking right of way as well as accumulated debris from next door neighbor in the alley directly west of the 7th and Pine intersection.
House at the corner of W 6th and Fairview has allowed decorative grasses to grow into sidewalk and into Fairview Street. Cars cannot see pedestrians as they pull through Fairview and peds have to walk into street to avoid getting hit in face by plants.
The alley next to 1010 W 7th's fence has enough growth that it is impossible to pass by in a car without driving through it somewhat. Ongoing construction of MIL unit on Maple behind 801 W 7th no visible permits. Ignore previous u-report/wrong address. House and construction is on SOUTH side of 7th Street at Maple.
My neighbors have a large designated parking area behind their house but continue to just park in the yard as opposed to using it. Not a huge deal but it’s a well used alley and they are killing the grass and it will be a mud pit sooner or later. Plus it’s just annoying since they have a large parking area ten feet away.
Apparently there is a plan to make the parking spot in front of my house(1 of 2) a handicap spot for the Banneker? This is what I was told by my neighbor. The Banneker has two designated spots next to their building with adjoining ramps. I was curious as to why this additional spot was necessary? Staff and visitors attending Banneker already use a good amount of the parking around the facility. I have a driveway, so it's not an issue for me, it just seems unnecessary.
