Biking & Walking

104 E Davis ST

Case Date:
3/30/2013

The hair salon businesses located near 1025 S Walnut St would benefit from a bike rack. The owners of the salons expressed interest in the rack but were unsure of landlord support for a rack. The location is ideal for a rack as it is near the B-line and bike boulevard on Allen.

Ironic to park this here when there’s literally a parking garage about 4 inches away

This large pine tree has been overgrowing the sidewalk (on right side of Landmark facing 3rd) for years. I walk this block everyday, and this chokepoint, where narrow sidewalk and street blend together, pushes me dangerously close to oncoming traffic. For fast traffic heading north on Landmark, this is a blind bend for anyone approaching from other direction. A large truck or van could easily sideswipe a pedestrian trying to step around tree limbs.

There is roadway overgrowth next to 1100 N. Lincoln. There is also a problem with overgrowth in the alleyway entrance btwn 1119 & 1000 N. Lincoln. There is a dead limb in the alleyway very high up. One limb fell in front of her car while driving down the alley.

This is a continuation of #185394, which was never resolved - because their is still a significant amount of construction debris in the bicycle lane. That ticket and this ticket have the same address at the top.

Blocked Street

1100 N Walnut ST

Case Date:
9/2/2023

A construction sign is completely blocking the bicycle lane on a very busy street with speeding drivers. The sign was originally used to warn about road construction. But that construction was complete more than a week ago. All of the past week the lane has still been blocked. Why does the city not fine the contractor for this negligence? The contractor also left a significant about of debris in the bicycle lane between the sign and 17th street. Why does this happen? Does the city really care about bicycle safety?

Traffic Suggestions

1100-1398 N Hancock Dr, Bloomington, Indiana, 47404

Case Date:
8/11/2019

Topic: West 16th, Hancock Dr., and West 15th section through/beside Crestmont Park. This is a beautiful, and I believe under-appreciated stretch of street. Quiet, park setting with trees. However, there is one problem - the road is extremely narrow. Too narrow. If a car is coming one way and encounters a car coming the other way, one has to stop and pull half-way off the road for the other to get by. This is particularly problematic because the blacktop drops off several inches right at the edge and the soil at the edge is often washed out in certain areas. Another issue is that some drivers drive entirely too fast through here and then cut the corner at the bottom of the hill too tightly - this has practically run me off the road in the past. I don't wish to suggest that this section of street be widened. That would ruin its park-like atmosphere. What I would like to suggest is this: Starting at Lindbergh, W. 15th, Hancock, and W. 16th up to Monroe St be made one-way westbound. Then, the section of Lindbergh between W. 15th and W. 17th be switched to one-way northbound once 17th is reopened. I don't think that much traffic normally comes up Lindbergh where it would create that much more traffic on W.16th, etc. Perhaps put down counters to check, but it would cut out the traffic from one way and make the road more safe. Even if none of this is pursued, one thing that is definitely needed are "SLOW" signs and "PARK" signs. There may be a sign marking that there is a ninety-degree curve does in the bottom, but if not, there needs to be one of those too. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you will give this some consideration - at least definitely the part about the signs.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

1100-1398 N Hancock Dr, Bloomington, Indiana, 47404

Case Date:

Would it be possible to have some kind of guardrail installed on the edge of the road where the drainage creek crosses under the road in Crestmont Park - hopefully before winter? Since the road is already two narrow for two cars (which is a whole separate issue,) it would be helpful to have a safety measure in place to stop a car from driving or sliding off into the creek.

Blocked Sidewalk

1101 East Rogers Road

Case Date:
7/23/2018

There is a significant amount of vegetation encroaching into the sidewalk along the northeast corner of the High Street roundabout. We use this sidewalk to connect from our Sycamore Knolls neighborhood over to the Jackson Creek trail, and it has become extremely difficult for our young kids to navigate this on their bikes. Can this please be trimmed back?
