There are three bird scooters blocking one of the crosswalk buttons on the southeast corner of the 10th and the bypass intersection. This makes it difficult to access the crossing button. This has been happening for about a month now.
Several scooter riders are riding the scooters in the dismount zone along the north side of Kirkwood Avenue between Indiana and Dunn avenues. Increased (or any) enforcement of laws would be nice for a change.

These Birds and Limes left plenty of sidewalk for pedestrians but the Limes would block someone from being able to get out of the rear seat of that car on to the sidewalk.
I think the scooters, as currently used, are a bad idea. They are dangerous to riders and pedestrians and pose a hazard to motorists, besides clutter our sidewalks. Environmentally, I think of them as a large-scale manifestation of the American disposable razor mentally. At the very least, they need to be thoughtfully regulated. If not banned entirely, then, as motorized vehicles, they should be confined to streets or bike lanes and obey traffic laws, with fines resulting for violations. While we are at it, bicycles should not be allowed on sidewalks either. I am all for low carbon emissions, but I am not convinced the scooters are a safe and green alternative to walking or biking or taking a bus.
Per the city of Bloomington's electric scooter guidelines "Park the scooter in a bike rack or in another lawful spot on public property that does not block the right-of-way, limit access for individuals with disabilities, risk damaging private or public property, or jeopardize public safety." On Monday April 22 I reported a Lime scooter completely blocking the sidewalk. It has now been turned over off the sidewalk onto someone's property. Will someone please remove this eyesore.
2007 E Second this morning at 11 am. 2 hours later one of the scooters had been blown over and was half in the street. Traffic had to stop to let oncoming cars pass, because the road is very narrow here. I complained about scooters parked like this in the same spot a week ago. Don't those BIRD people learn from their mistakes?! This sidewalk is used by kids walking to 3 schools. A parent walking hand in hand with a child cannot pass here.
