Bloomington, IN - The entire community is invited to attend the Annual Soul Food Festival, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, from 11am-4pm in Karst Farm Park on Bloomington's westside. The Festival theme is Feed Your Body and Feed Your Soul.

The day's activities will include food from area restaurants, entertainment, merchandise vendors, informational and educational exhibits, family-friendly games and the distribution of the 2006 edition of the Bloomington Black Connection Directory. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can bring their own picnic baskets or purchase food on-site from vendors. The primary goal is to have fun.

"This annual event is akin to a family reunion," said Beverly Calender-Anderson, City of Bloomington Safe and Civil City Director. "It's a time when old friends gather and new friendships are formed. Everyone who attends should be ready for a good time."

The Soul Food Festival is sponsored by the City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, Bloomington Black Business and Professionals Association, and Ivy Tech Community College.

For additional information on becoming a vendor, volunteering or attending the Soul Food Festival contact Debra Vance, Ivy Tech Community College at 330-6111 or by e-mail at [dvance@ivytech.edu|mailto:dvance@ivytech.edu].
