City's Council for Community Accessibility Invites Public to Annual Awards Ceremony and Workshop

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) will host its annual awards ceremony from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Fountain Square Ballroom, 101 W. Kirkwood Ave.

The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, recognizes individuals and groups in Bloomington who make our community a better place for people with disabilities. Mayor Mark Kruzan will present the Mayor's Award, and additional awards will be presented by the Council to individuals and businesses who have shown a strong dedication to the mission of the CCA. The program will also include hors d'oeuvres and desserts, a keynote address and live music.

Kathie Snow will present the keynote address at the awards celebration entitled "Accessibility: Creating Inclusion for All." Snow is the parent of two teenagers, one of whom has a disability. During the past 23 years, her presentations across the United States and Canada have enabled thousands of parents to acquire new skills for raising successful children who happen to have disabilities.

Snow will also present a free workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. the following day, Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Ivy Tech Bloomington campus entitled "Disability is Natural and Other Revolutionary Common Sense." More information about Kathie Snow is available at [www.disabilityisnatural.com].

Those planning to attend the awards ceremony or the workshop must register online by Oct. 20 on the [Council for Community Accessibility's website|/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=1857].
