City's HAND Department Seeks Public Input for Community Development Block Grant Through Survey

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington's Housing and Neighborhood Development Department (HAND) will be distributing a survey for input on future expenditures of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to area residents. Residents may fill out and return the surveys to give input regarding community needs and use of future funds.

CDBG funding is federal community development assistance dollars provided annually to the City by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Every five years, the City of Bloomington must submit a Consolidated Plan to HUD that establishes a vision for the expenditures of these funds in areas such as social service funding, housing assistance and community development activities.

Public input is crucial in determining priorities for the next five years. Surveys were sent to area residents on Oct. 1. For those in the area that did not receive a survey by mail and would like to participate, the survey can be completed online at Survey Monkey by using the following link: [https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HANDConPlan2014]. The deadline for completing or returning the surveys to HAND is Nov. 14.

For more information, please contact HAND at 349.3401 or hand@bloomington.in.gov.
