Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington's Annual Winter Show is December's Atrium Exhibit

Bloomington, Ind. - During the month of December, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase artworks created by members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington in the atrium of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.

The show, "Celebrate Everyday," has a holiday theme and includes art from members ages 6 through 16. Club members spent the semester learning about different cultural holidays and celebrations. "Celebrate Everyday" features more than 30 member-made paintings and drawings, which will be for sale as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington Visual Arts Program.

A reception will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The reception will include performances by the Lincoln Street Club's Lindsay O'Brien Kesling Performing Arts Program, with presentations by club members in Choir, Hip-hop Dance, Rainbow Dance, Violin and a solo voice performance. Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be on display from Dec. 3 through Dec. 31. Exhibition hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.

This project is another effort under the City's strategy to leverage and expand the economic development potential of the arts in Bloomington. According to the 2012 Americans for the Arts study, Bloomington's nonprofit arts sector contributes $72.3 million to the local economy annually through direct spending by arts organizations and their audiences.
