Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that the City will continue celebrating the Be [image:4680,right]Bloomington campaign through 2009 with new themes, initiatives and events. The designated themes include Be Downtown, Be Safe, Be Connected, Be Fun, Be Creative, Be Green, Be Active and Be Compassionate.

"This year marks the fourth consecutive year of the campaign, and we have even more themes that promote Bloomington's unique character and its multitude of events," Kruzan said. "Be Bloomington is a great way to demonstrate to residents and visitors that Bloomington is truly unmatched in terms of quality of life and the activities available for everyone."

The Be Bloomington campaign officially began in 2006 as a way to preserve and enhance Bloomington's unique community character and to collaborate with community organizations and nonprofit agencies. Since its inception, the campaign has featured 18 different themes and dozens of events.

The 2009 themes will be utilized throughout the year to promote City programming and City-sponsored events related to the themes.
