Bloomington, IN
- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that three local women will be awarded for their outstanding service to the community. The recipients were selected by the Women's History Month Lunch Committee, which is organized by the City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women.

Christine Glaser has been named Bloomington's Woman of the Year, Anne Reese has been posthumously named the recipient of the Lifetime Contribution Award and Melissa Britton has been chosen to receive the Emerging Leader Award.

Britton will be awarded the Emerging Leader Award at a women's leadership workshop on Mar. 30 at City Hall. Glaser and Reese will be honored at the annual Women's History Month Luncheon on Wednesday, Mar. 11.

The Luncheon commences at noon at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center. This year's theme is Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet and features Keynote Speaker Lisa Sideris, assistant professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Indiana University.

Tickets are on sale now for $20 and can be purchased through either the City's Commission on the Status of Women (COTSW) or the City's Community and Family Resources Department (CFRD).

Checks should be made payable to the Women's History Month Lunch, and purchasers should include the names of all guests attending on the check. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and none will be sold at the door on the day of the event. Payments made directly to the COTSW should be mailed to PO Box 100, Bloomington, IN 47402. Purchases through CFRD can be made in person at City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 260.

The deadline for all ticket sales is Friday, Mar. 6, and those who need assistance paying should contact Sue Owens, Program Specialist for CFRD, at 349-3468.
