Bloomington, IN
- The City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Commission will host an informational session titled "There's No Place Like Home: Affordable Housing - Information and Opportunities for Rental Property Owners/Managers" on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street.
Snacks and beverages will be provided for the reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. The informational session begins at 6 p.m. and focuses on addressing the critical need for affordable housing in Bloomington and Monroe County. The session will focus specifically on how property owners can benefit by renting to low- and moderate-income residents. Representatives from the Bloomington Housing Authority and the Monroe County Circles Initiative will present information pertinent to property owners, including addressing myths about Section 8 rentals. Current rental owners, managers and residents of Section 8 housing also will be on hand to share their experiences and give advice on how Section 8 housing can benefit renters and owners. Time will be reserved at the end of the session for questions and discussion. This free session is a great opportunity for rental property owners and managers to learn more about other housing options.
Sponsors include the City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Commission, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, Bloomington Housing Authority and the Monroe County Circles Initiative. Printing services were donated by Cartridge World.
For more information about the session, visit the Commission's webpage at bloomington.in.gov/cfr or contact Kathy Mayer, Office Manager for the City Community and Family Resources Department, at 349-3430 or mayerk@bloomington.in.gov.
