The Indianapolis 500 is May 30, and the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter is celebrating the build-up to race day by promoting adoptions of black and white dogs and cats.

"We are always looking for fun and creative ways to highlight our great animals and to get the public excited about visiting the shelter," said Laurie Ringquist, Director of the City's Animal Care & Control division. "Between now and and the Indy 500's exciting conclusion on race day, we want to get these lap dogs and cats into forever homes."

Black, white or black and white cats will have their adoption fee reduced to $20. Black, white or black and white dogs will have their adoption fee reduced by $20, which means dogs younger than five years would be $55 and dogs five years and older would be $35. The shelter is decorated with a race them, including a bulletin board highlighting the racing members of "Team Cat" and "Team Dog." Come adopt your favorite to help your "team" get all of its members adopted and across the finish line first!
