Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan and the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter are promoting the adoption of shelter animals during the holiday season with a "Home for the Holidays" campaign.
"During this special time of year, when people often take the time to help those who are less fortunate, we encourage the public to think about giving our wonderful shelter animals a permanent 'home for the holidays,'" Kruzan said.
The Shelter and B97 Radio have once again partnered on "The 12 Strays of Christmas" promotion. Each day from Wednesday, Dec. 8 through Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, a new dog and cat will be featured on the radio and will be available for adoption at a reduced fee of $40. Featured animals will also be promoted on the radio station's website at www.wbwb.com.
As further encouragement to add a loving member to your family this holiday season, the Shelter will be holding a special "Home for the Holidays Adopt-a-Thon" on Friday, Dec. 10 from noon to 9 p.m. During the adopt-a-thon, all dogs, cats and rabbits will be available at a reduced adoption fee of $40. All adopters also can have their picture taken in front of the Christmas tree with their new best friend. From 6 to 8 p.m., the Joyful Hound Mobile Dog Grooming van will be offering FREE "Nose, Nails and Tail" trims to all dogs adopted from the shelter during those hours. Additionally, the public is welcome to bring their own dogs in to enjoy discounted rates on either a nail trim or the "Nose, Nails and Tail" package.
"There is sure to be a friend for everyone to bring home for the holidays, so stop by and check out all of the festive activities," said Shelter Director Laurie Ringquist.
