Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Arts Commission (BAC) has announced that revised guidelines and applications are now available for the Winter 2011/Spring 2012 Cycle of its Arts Project Grant Program. The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m., October 1, 2011. The BAC encourages all eligible organizations to apply.

Grants of up to $1,000 are available to nonprofit organizations participating in arts activities that align with current areas of focus of the Arts Commission, which include: cultivating a community in which residents appreciate the value of personal and collective artistic activity; encouraging collaboration in and diversification of artistic activities that include participants from across the community; enhancing and supporting a high level of artistry; and supporting the economic vitality and interests of local artists and arts organizations. The grants also help fulfill the City's intent of leveraging the arts as economic development in the community.

Grant applications will be judged on three categories of criteria: artistic quality, community impact and organizational capacity. Guidelines and application are available on the City of Bloomington website at [www.bloomington.in.gov/bac|www.bloomington.in.gov/bac]

For more information on the grant program, contact Miah Michaelsen, Assistant Economic Development Director for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or (812) 349-3534.
