Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan has announced a collaborative effort between the City of Bloomington and Indiana University to host public workshops on Thursday, Apr. 16 addressing the 10th Street Campus Mobility Study.

The first takes place from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Room 1B at the Monroe County Public Library on Kirkwood Ave, and the second from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. in Room CG2077 at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Graduate and Executive Education Center at the corner of 10th Street and Fee Lane. These workshops will be the first of several opportunities for the community to discuss transportation needs throughout the East 10th Street corridor.

"The City and IU are pleased to be able to partner on this important transportation study," said Josh Desmond, Assistant Planning Director for the City. "We want to find a solution that enhances mobility for all users of this key transportation corridor. A key part of developing a successful solution is hearing what the community has to say."

The East 10th Street corridor through campus has long been identified as a transportation challenge. Studies conducted as long ago as 1964 have recommended improvements to the area to improve mobility for all forms of travel. The Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO) is helping fund the current study with the goal of creating a final, preferred set of improvements for the area. The study will evaluate not only east-west movement in this area of campus, but also will seek ways to improve north-south connectivity across the corridor.

Interested residents are encouraged to attend the workshops. For more information, please contact Raymond Hess, Senior Transportation Planner for the City of Bloomington, at 349-3423 or via email at [hessr@bloomington.in.gov|mailto:hessr@bloomington.in.gov].
