Bloomington, IN
-- Mayor Mark Kruzan and the City of Bloomington Commission on Aging invite the community to help celebrate Older Americans Month this May by hosting events and participating in the Creative Aging Initiative.

The Creative Aging Initiative honors elders and their creative contributions to the community. The Initiative aims to highlight the artistic talents of older adults while promoting intergenerational understanding and increased awareness of the effect of creative engagement on adult health and well-being. The Commission encourages all members of the community to participate in this unique celebration by recognizing creative elders or hosting a creative aging event.

The Commission is also developing an online program calendar that will feature creative aging events and exhibits in May. A printed calendar will be distributed to arts and aging organizations in the area. To promote an event in the online and print calendar, submit event details on the Creative Aging Festival form, available on the City's website at [www.bloomington.in.gov/creativeagingfestival|http://bloomington.in.gov/creativeagingfestival]. The early submission deadline is March 1.

The City of Bloomington's Commission on Aging meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Hooker Conference Room, Suite 245 of City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street. All commission meetings are open to the public and minutes from meetings can be found on the City's website. For additional information, contact Sue Owens at [mailto:owenss@bloomington.in.gov] or 349.3468.
