Commission on the Status of Women Sponsors "Leadership Through Advocacy" Women's Leadership Event

Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women will hold a women's leadership development event on Thursday, March 31 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street. This year's theme is "Leadership Through Advocacy."

The event will begin with a reception at 5 p.m., where participants can enjoy refreshments and learn more about getting involved with City Boards and Commissions, as well as other local agencies. Following the reception, the event will include an award presentation to Sheri Benham, the City's 2011 Emerging Leader, and a keynote speech by Dawn Johnsen, a Walter W. Foskett Professor of Law. Following the award presentation and keynote speech, Leadership Scholarship recipients will share their learning experiences in a panel discussion, and Janet Wakefield, CEO of Leadership & Renewal Outfitters, will close the event.

The Women's Leadership Event is free and open to the public. Co-sponsors include the City of Bloomington's Commission on the Status of Women, Community & Family Resources Department and Office of the Clerk, American Association of University Women, Girls Incorporated of Monroe County, Middle Way House, Women Inspire. and Indiana University Asian Cultural Center.
