Request for community assistance

Early last week, I made two commitments to Rob and Charlene Spierer. First, that the Bloomington Police Department is being given all resources necessary to successfully find their daughter.

Second, I promised that even if the search process becomes a prolonged one, Bloomington would not forget Lauren.

As we enter into this second full week since Lauren's disappearance, I am asking the community to help assure Rob, Charlene and Lauren's sister Rebecca that our common commitment to finding Lauren is even stronger today than it was on June 3rd.

The Spierers have consistently extended their deep appreciation to you for all you're doing to comfort them and to find Lauren. More dramatically and heartfelt has been their statement that your support is what's keeping them going.

You can continue to aid this family through one or more of these simple steps:

  • If you have any information regarding Lauren Spierer, please contact our police department at 812.339.4477. You can do so anonymously. Calls are not traced. You will be asked for your contact information, but you do not have to share it.
  • You can email tips to [mailto:policetips@bloomington.in.gov].
  • If you'd prefer to contact someone out of town with information, call the "America's Most Wanted" tip line at 800-CRIMETV. Remember there is a $100,000 reward for information that leads to finding Lauren.
  • Keep in mind something Lauren's father said about tips, "anything small might be big." Do not worry that you're bothering police. If it's on your mind, it's worth reporting. Law enforcement welcomes any facts and will "weed through" what is and isn't important.
  • Don't forget "Lunch With Lauren," where we ask people to take 10 minutes of your lunchtime to take a look around your property or the place you're dining.
  • If you'd like to volunteer to search, meet at Find Lauren Spierer Headquarters, 415 N. College Ave, at the corner of 8th & College, at 11 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. Do not search secluded areas by yourself.
  • If you own a business with video surveillance, especially on main routes into and out of Downtown, please turn over video from June 2 and 3 to police.
  • You can make financial donations to help with the search and learn more information at [www.findlauren.com|www.findlauren.com].
