The City's Legal department handles requests for public records. Sometimes these are referred to as FOIA requests or public information requests.

The City also maintains an open data portal, B-Clear where we've already published many public records.

Please submit public records requests through the Request Portal. Upon receiving a completed request, the City of Bloomington will review its files to determine if the requested records exist and are disclosable and will contact you soon thereafter to advise you of its determination. If your request is denied, you will be given written notice of the statutory authority for denial and the name and title or position of the person responsible for the denial.

The City is committed to providing equal access to information. However, despite our efforts, at times, the Public Records Request Portal may not be accessible for some individuals. If you encounter difficulties accessing material on this webpage, please contact the City of Bloomington Legal Department at (812) 349-3426 and provide your name, contact information, and a description of the problem you are having with the webpage.
