"Stranger danger"? You mean anti-friendship propaganda? Sophie doesnt need to have actually "met" that guy walking to the laundry room of my apartment building to know he's her best friend. That gentleman in the neighbor's window who I keep insisting is "just a halloween decoration"? Sophie will convince him to come play any day now. Sophie has so far proved herself to be a really lovely apartment dog. She can be curious about the sounds from the neighbors, but doesn't feel the need to scream her head off about it, and is quiet while I'm at work. She is pretty consistent at going potty outside when on a somewhat regular schedule, but she so far isn't the kind of dog to go bark at the door if you forget to let her out. If given the opportunity, she always potties outside. Sophie likes to play with her human pals, and is working on being gentle when things get wild and exciting. She settles down quickly if she gets a little too hyped up, so it's just a matter of practice since she's a big strong girl. Sophie is a master at fetch, and will chase just about anything you toss. She's happy to bring tennis balls back for you to throw again, and she's the gentlest girl about giving toys to you, or taking treats. She likes to shred her softer toys, but so far is pretty good at knowing what's hers to chew on. Shoes have been basically safe, and she hasn't messed with my houseplants, trash, or laundry or anything like that. The exception is stuffed animals, so if future adopters have kiddos who like plush toys, they will want to keep them out of Sophie's reach. So far Sophie has not shown any signs of resource guarding, whether that be toys, bits of fluff, or her space. Sophie got ahold of a ball of yarn from a craft project, and she let me take it right out of her mouth. She's comfortable having her paws touched, being hugged and cuddled pretty much any time. When she isn't playing, Sophie is more than happy to settle down on the couch for some cuddles. Rub her belly for a while, and it's basically the best day ever. All Sophie really wants is to be close to her humans, whether that's for a game of fetch, a walk outside, or a cozy afternoon watching TV. Sophie is good on a leash in the apartment courtyard, doesn't pull or anything. On longer walks she's also pretty solid considering how big she is, and doesn't try to drag you down the street or anything. She'll pull at the leash a bit if there's a particularly interesting smell to explore, and usually wants to go say "hi" to people. **In a foster home; please call 812-349-3492 for more information**
