Street & Traffic Signs:

Other: In connection with uReport Case #178466, I now request that the intersection of Fairview and 13th Street be converted into a four way stop. If BPD is unable to enforce traffic laws due to staffing issues while there is an identifiable problem that causes citizens to fear for the safety of their body as well as their personal property, then there needs to be more constraints on the ability for people to get up to high speed on a residential street. Thank you.

Thank you for bringing our attention to this concern again. However, stop signs are not tools to manage speed - they are tools to manage the right of way and the operation of intersections. If they are misapplied, they can create more problems than a traditional two-way stop-controlled intersection.” There is no related crash history in this intersection. Staff confirmed the presence of Speed limit signs in the surrounding streets around this intersection. You can also visit the Planning Department's resident led traffic calming process website where one can potentially apply for traffic calming - https://bloomington.in.gov/tcgp We plan to collect traffic volume and speed counts on Fairview and 13th St later this year as a part of our effort to monitor the area.
