The bypass has been very congested as of late. It has been taking an extremely long time to drive from 10th & Bypass to highway 37. This has never been an issue before and there can't be that many more people coming to and from Bloomington. It seems maybe the lights are off since law enforcement change the lights for traffic flow after athletic events. Please advise. Thank you!
Hello, My name is Andrew Goodale and I am the manager of the Verizon store on West Third Street in Bloomington. I am writing in regards to the road maintenance and related traffic issues that exist around our store. Maintenance on the Third Street overpass is severely affecting our business and store traffic to the negative. Because Third Street has been reduced to a single eastbound lane in front of our store, customers are not able to access our place of business. Our entrance is consistently blocked off with a line of traffic, and even during the rare times when it is clear, people do not think they can turn into our parking lot because of all the street pylons blocking off our entrance. Further, this same issue also causes traffic to back up on Liberty road which often simultaneously blocks off our rear entrance. This traffic double-whammy is killing our business and noticeably affecting the paychecks of your Bloomington residents that work here. Because there is a Bus Stop right in front of our store, this lane merging is also creating a safety hazard for bystanders and pedestrians in the area, including my employees. Just the other day we witnessed a City Bus hit one of your sawhorse barricades and it got caught underneath the bus. We watched the driver get out, unsuccessfully try to remove the sign, and continue driving with it caught under the bus, dragging it along as they drove on the sidewalk and hopped the curb turning from Third onto Liberty. I would like to be informed what will be done by Bloomington in order to stop stunting our business and creating a safety hazard outside of our store due to construction related traffic signs and patterns. I also need to know when this construction project will be complete, and what is being done to make sure that deadline is met or exceeded. Construction is ridiculous. You have every street tore up and the traffic lights are not letting traffic get through properly! Why not do one street at a time. Enough is enough! And stop bringing more people in!
On Vernal Pike heading east in to the City, there is a significant speed limit change once you reach Cresent Road. There is a reader board that alerts you to the speed limit change, but it is located essentially right at the zone change itself. This is setting up a dangerous situation, especially in regards to school bus traffic and children entering/exiting buses. Vehicles are going very fast and suddenly the speed limit changes very fast (from 40 mph to 20 mph). Can the reader board sign please be moved about 500' west (prior to entering bridge)? If not, can another warning sign or signal of some type be installed to give drivers an advanced warning of the speed limit change? This will really help with the safety of this situation. Hello City Issues, As you look at the location I'm sure you already know what I'm asking. As you leave the AMC movie theater on the west side of town on 3rd street, there's that ambiguous light that I've seen traffic handle two different ways. One is that only the left lane turns left and the other set treat both lanes as left turn lanes. I'm here to ask: 1) Can you verify, as you leave the movie theater, if I want to turn right onto 3rd street, is the first light only left turn-able from the left lane or do both allow you to turn? 2) This is very pie in the sky, but are you able to place traffic signs near the lights indicating the available turns? Having them clarify the purpose of the right hand lane would be tremendous. I'm only asking because I've constantly seen people think one of two camps and, every time I leave the movie theater, I nearly see a wreck every time. Thank you. -Joe

Hello, I live in an apartment complex on 8th and Grant street on the 3rd floor, and my window overlooks a particular intersection on the corner of E. 9th street and Grant St. My desk is right in front of the window, and I often see near collisions at this intersection, sometimes multiple times a day and hear them when people honk. I have seen two actual car crashes at this intersection in the past month, including one today (the first one was on 9/3/16 ). 9th street is a one way, and there is no stop sign, so people will often speed through it and traffic on Grant cannot stop in time or they do not see the other vehicle due to vehicles parked on 9th street. I truly believe that there needs to be a stop sign installed on 9th street at this intersection to get people to be more careful. I hope to hear back from someone regarding this issue, if possible. I live on the Waterman section of W. 8th Street. A few years ago, before the city repaved our road, there were yellow center lines and also marked roadside parking spaces. When will the city repaint those lines? It has been a few years already. We have an issue of people speeding on our road, which they do by driving down the center of it regardless of oncoming traffic, pedestrians, and bicyclists. I think the speeding was less of an issue back when the road lines were painted because those lines prevented people from driving down the middle of the road like they do now. I think repainting the center lines and the parking spot lines, we could actually solve the speeding problem.

7th Street, east of campus, has a stretch where the foliage of a yard has overgrown into the eastbound bicycle lane. (At some points during the summer, it was long enough to brush the sides of vehicles NOT in the bike lane). This causes bicycles to veer out into the single vehicular traffic lane, and I've seen several near misses.
