Compact ice and snow builds up on the ped/bike underpass. It's extremely treacherous and NO ONE seems to even care enough to lay down some salt. The multi-use path up east 7th street along Park Doral apartments also sees little to no cleaning, but is supposed to be part of a vital pedestrian and bicycle artery. It might be cold, but we're still trying to use this without killing ourselves.

Resident reports consistent speeding and safety concerns as well as recurring congestion in stretch of road lacking a sidewalk near Culver's on W 3rd St.
Around 9:45am this morning, I walked out of the parking garage at 7th and Morton, out through the lower level of the garage onto 7th Street. As I was walking out onto the sidewalk, a minivan was driving east in the bike lanes! The driver and passenger seemed lost and realized they were in the wrong place. They stopped then crossed over a break in the weird curbing there to get back into a lane of traffic. They had driven from at least Morton halfway up the block before getting out of the bike lane. This is not the first time of numerous times I have witnessed vehicles driving in or parking in the 7th Street bike lane. Is there any way to add signs or markings that make this more obvious? Also, while we are here - on Monday I was downtown driving on Morton headed north and came to a stop at 7th Street. People are really confused by this intersection. A car from the west came to a complete stop. A car from the north on Morton decided to cross 7th in front of the stopped car from the west on Morton. A car coming down the hill from the east on 7th was not intending to stop, but had to due to this car in the intersection from the north on Morton that failed to yield to 7th Street traffic. Although, the randomly stopped car to the west on 7th acting like it was a four-way stop sign certainly made matters go awry. Essentially, the entire 7th Street bike lane system is a mess of poorly designed infrastructure. A friend was telling me about how the bike lane gets blocked at 7th and Woodlawn because of the college students getting on and off buses and the bus riders have to cross the bike lanes and often do not pay any attention. A perfectly good street has multiplied the potential for accidents and injuries with this "upgrade" that got installed.
Blue Buick at 3345 is permanently stationary with no registration I do not know if this is illegal or not. The condo H.O.A. is unresponsive ( Ivy Sells). The owner of this unit is Hoosier Choice Realty. This resident had a visitor that intimidated me in the past . Cars.law.com states an unregistered vehicle in Indiana may not be located on a sidewalk. Very narrow intersection when vehicles are parked along sidewalk. Cars driving south on N Fairview toward the intersection drive fast up the hill and cannot be seen by vehicles advancing north on N Fairview if the south-bound car has not yet reached the intersection. Not enough room for two directional traffic because of the vehicles parked on the side of the road.
Hello, My name is Andrew Goodale and I am the manager of the Verizon store on West Third Street in Bloomington. I am writing in regards to the road maintenance and related traffic issues that exist around our store. Maintenance on the Third Street overpass is severely affecting our business and store traffic to the negative. Because Third Street has been reduced to a single eastbound lane in front of our store, customers are not able to access our place of business. Our entrance is consistently blocked off with a line of traffic, and even during the rare times when it is clear, people do not think they can turn into our parking lot because of all the street pylons blocking off our entrance. Further, this same issue also causes traffic to back up on Liberty road which often simultaneously blocks off our rear entrance. This traffic double-whammy is killing our business and noticeably affecting the paychecks of your Bloomington residents that work here. Because there is a Bus Stop right in front of our store, this lane merging is also creating a safety hazard for bystanders and pedestrians in the area, including my employees. Just the other day we witnessed a City Bus hit one of your sawhorse barricades and it got caught underneath the bus. We watched the driver get out, unsuccessfully try to remove the sign, and continue driving with it caught under the bus, dragging it along as they drove on the sidewalk and hopped the curb turning from Third onto Liberty. I would like to be informed what will be done by Bloomington in order to stop stunting our business and creating a safety hazard outside of our store due to construction related traffic signs and patterns. I also need to know when this construction project will be complete, and what is being done to make sure that deadline is met or exceeded. Third Street between Woodlawn and Indiana intersection is a problem. It narrows to one lane near Indiana, but the traffic at the light at Woodlawn does not know it will narrow. This results in traffic tie ups and unsafe manouvering to get a better spot in line. Please move the warnings and signs about the single lane closer to the traffic light at Woodlawn, if they can see the problem earlier it will be safer. Someone tried to cut ahead by using the bike lane and sidewalk today.
Hi! We live on South Banta Avenue, and because the road is on a hill, and also because it provides a shortcut between Tapp Road and Ralston, we routinely see cars charging up and down the hill as fast as they can go. (Today we watched a truck moving uphill actually pull over to one side and make a complete stop to allow a sedan to shoot downhill past it, still accelerating.) This is terrifying, as we have two young children, one of whom is still under two years old. We routinely bike with the kids in tow, and the most frightening part of our entire journey is the short time we have to bike up or down our own street. There have been two accidents at the corner of Tapp and Banta within the past week, and a neighbor's cat was run over recently as well. I'm not sure what a workable solution would be, whether posted speed limit or children at play signs would effectively change motorist behavior. There are numerous families with children in the neighborhood, and since most of Banta Ave has neither sidewalk nor curb, children trying to move from their homes even to the neighborhood park at the Broadview Learning Center are in considerable danger--this is true throughout much of the Broadview neighborhood area. As for South Banta Avenue, I would love to see a few speed bumps put in. I'd even welcome a few giant potholes. Seriously. I hope that the intersection of Tapp and Rockport is scheduled to become a traffic circle in time, which I hope will alleviate this problem eventually. a “road work ahead” sign has been on our property for quite awhile and it blocks our view when leaving our driveway to turn onto the street. It is also in the space that we snowplow our snow. We would like it removed as soon as possible. We live at 8735 Penn Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55431 Thank you.
