I am writing to follow up on my concerns regarding the ongoing construction of the new house across from 1422 North Hopewell Street. As you know, North Hopewell Street is quite narrow and a dead end. For the past year, construction workers have frequently blocked the road, making it difficult for residents to enter or leave. The street is only wide enough for one vehicle, yet construction personnel routinely park directly in the middle of the road or park vehicles on both sides. This has even caused issues for the trash collection services. This has become a daily problem, often causing delays that have made me late for work as I have to wait for vehicles to be moved. Unfortunately, it seems that there is often a lack of consideration or urgency in resolving these obstructions. Furthermore, the property has already hosted several gatherings with insufficient parking, which has further increased the congestion on the street. Thank you for your time and attention to this persistent issue.

Leaving an oversized vehicle and stacks of lumber blocking half of the street is unsafe for vehicles and pedestrians in this neighborhood. Lumber and steel are also blocking a sidewalk, but I was only able to attach one picture. There are vacant lots available to store construction materials which would not be a hazard to residents and visitors.

Blocking this east-west corridor all summer is a disaster. Consider there are people in this town who DRIVE EAST WEST. This has diverted traffic to hillside and last evening the traffic on hillside going west was backed up from the light at high street through the roundabout near renwick. This was causing drivers to divert into the neighborhood north of there, flying through at high speeds. Open up our roads again, stop making driving impossible in Bloomington with all these sidewalks, bikepaths, street narrowing curbs that NOBODY uses. NOBODY. Put a plan into place to improve EAST WEST traffic. This is ruining the town.

Massive work is being done on our short street (S. Sare Rd.) - bulldozers, trucks, people. But a large white Cadillac SUV with something in the driver's seat, possibly a human, sits parked almost in my driveway. As I was trying to get out of my driveway this morning I had to steer around several vehicles. However, there was open space behind the white Cadillac SUV, plenty of room - it could have moved to make it easier for me to get past him. He didn't move! Perhaps he is stoned, asleep, drunk, stupid, or maybe it's a robot sitting in the driver's seat. However, IT, the body in the driver's seat, indicated no intention of being helpful. He was not in a City of Bloomington vehicle, but a private vehicle, so perhaps he was an intruder, a spy of some kind, or he was hiding out because it was a stolen vehicle and he thought he would be safely overlooked in all the disruption. Lots of scenarios are possible. But if the City of Bloomington is paying this incompetent person to sit like a dummy in his private, oversized car and block the way of citizens, he should certainly be fired, or he should not be paid if you are paying him to sit there, hour after hour, oblivious to his surroudings. Not clear if this is the responsibility of 308 or 310, but there is a weedy tree on the south end of the property line between these two lots that has grown out a lot, so much so that it is hard to drive down the alley at this point, especially when there are tons of cars parked back there.

The parent pick up lane continues to cause major issues with this street. The parents block the area where there is a lane merger with a cross walk. The parents need to follow the rules of the road and wait until the line is moving allowing the residents of the area to use that street. The teachers that guard there are rude, and will not allow you to go past even with no kids in sight. I understand there is another way through the neighborhood, but it is out of the way, and doesn't stop the fact that they are not above the law, and that street should not be blocked for ANYTIME. If there was an emergency, is it right for a loved one to have to wait for help due to a parent pickup line? This is an issue that can be EASILY fixed with the guards stopping the parents from blocking the merged area allowing for the traffic to flow. This has been brought to the school who basically puts their hands up like it isn't their teachers out there yelling at residents just trying to make it home.

Construction for hopewell neighborhood: driving west between rogers and walker. Today is the 3rd time there is a team working without a flagger directing traffic in the street. The work is being done with a bobcat of some kind blocking one lane immediately before a hill, where you cannot see oncoming traffic. I’ve called twice about this already. Thank you!
