Uneven concrete sidewalk. Forces wheelchair users, scooters, etc into busy College Ave
Sidewalk needs grinding
This is a school bus stop area and many people walk here. I moved here 2 years ago and have put $250.000 into the house and property. All is looking good but the sidewalk and curb are in shambles. I edge my lawn and take care to make the area look as good as possible for the neighborhood. But the sidewalk and curb are a hazard to anyone walking on it.
The prior uReport was finalized by saying the issue was mitigated. I walked by this morning and it hasn't been mitigated. The missing sidewalk is on the west side of Sare Rd about 200 yards south of Moore's. It's across the street from the Verona Coffee shop. Here's the prior uReport from 2020: https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbloomington.in.gov%2Fcrm%2Ftickets%2Fview%3Fticket_id%3D173087&data=05%7C01%7C%7C96686622ce2641ad333a08db9e6eaddb%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638277970417164676%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=KqGpEZxMRKpA1%2B1nF7GBbFKnVLL8kHbHvU%2BBswotpI4%3D&reserved=0 Closed by Driss Tahir Staff investigated this report and issue has been mitigated Thanks for looking into this again. On the NW corner of 10th and Forrest there is a hazardous situation. There is no sidewalk along Forrest, but there is on 10th. When someone is walking south on Forrest on the west side of the street, the person must walk in a grassy area that looks a bit like a sidewalk from a distance, though it is only grass. When that person gets to the intersection with 10th Street, there is a drop-off of about 4 inches to the 10th Street sidewalk that is unexpected and jarring. Perhaps a little ramp there would improve the situation, though the addition of a sidewalk along Forrest would be a more ideal remedy. It is not clear if this is a City or a Campus issue, so please forward if this request should be sent to IU instead.
The sidewalk imprints about walking your scooters across the street are degrading, and are slippery. I was walking on Kirkwood, and the one on the corner in front of the Cafe Pizzeria (that corner) is where I slipped and hurt my right knee. I walk frequently there as I am a student at IU, and it's only slippery on top of the remneants of that imprint. Someone is going to get hurt or die even if they crack their skull!
At the NW corner of the intersection of 12th and Fess, there is a relatively new, ADA-compliant sidewalk/curb installation. There may be physical and/or legal reasons for having the center, raised concrete portion present, but it is not obvious and as a result is a trip hazard. We have tripped on it several times. There is a current project at the same intersection, so we were hoping that they could redo it or at least paint the section yellow so that it stands out. It is dangerous the way it is now.
The sidewalk from here all the way to the pedestrian crossing at Olcott sucks. It's an awful garbage sidewalk. There's been several reports about it being unsafe, and it's constantly blocked by vegetation. It's narrow and precipitous in places. Anything wider than a sedan risks clipping pedestrians.
Kilroys regularly sets up barriers that restrict the accessible width of the sidewalk to less than legal conditions. This is not ok. Please notify, and then fine them
