Parking Meters and Citations

I am hoping that i can be credited for my lack of action manually deactivating my parking session. I love the app and convenience of using the app for parking. However, the new pricing model requiring a stop action tripped me up...and I think it is more difficult and not as user friendly. I only parked for 30 minutes ..however, I was charged for the entire day: Transaction Details: Session Id: IC4494037815168R Activated: 6/17/2015 10:28 AM Deactivated: 6/17/2015 10:28 PM Zone: 76133 Location Bloomington, IN Space: n/a License Plate Number: HH1395 Parking fee: $10.75 Transaction fee: $0.50 Total Cost: $11.25 Please let me know your thoughts as I contemplate if I should continue to use the app.. Thanks, Doug

Dear Parking Ticket Grandparent, Your "Notification of Overdue Citation" says that I can pay online at www.bloomington.in.gov; however that is the homepage's url, that is not where I would make a payment. The correct url to make a payment is two pages past the homepage. We want to make it easier for people to pay their bills. So rather than having them type in a url that makes them have to follow a couple of breadcrumbs, why not send out a notification with the correct url. https://bloomington.t2hosted.com/cit/index.aspx Or you could go the other way with it and go one step further. Tell that a payment can be made at www.google.com

Parking Meters and Citations

Hi, I live just East of Woodlawn, and everyday I notice cars that are parked on 13th and 14th Street that do not have parking permits. Almost everyday there is a car parked on 14th, that is inches from the intersection of 14th and Forrest, which makes it absolutely impossible to see whether there is a car coming. Along 13th, there is always a long line of cars parked that makes it very difficult to see oncoming traffic. It would be one thing if these cars were supposed to be parking here, but they are not. Most of them, I see park here in the morning and walk to class, because they live far away and have realized that you are not enforcing parking permits in this area due to construction. Most, if not all of the construction workers park in an the grass, so all of the other cars are not theirs. I (and everyone who lives around here) would really appreciate it if you could come check it out once in awhile. Thanks!

I parked on 6th St near Dunn St and put money in meter. Turns out meter was not working yet. Why doesn't city government inform the public as to status of use of new meters. The entire meter process has been a circus.

I am complaining about the parking meter policy. I believe that this policy hurts downtown businesses. I would like the policy changed so that the meters do not have to be in use after 5 pm daily.

I'm not trying to appeal a ticket, but I do have a question. I received a parking ticket today because I did not properly use the meter which I should have. That was my fault, I admit. However, I took a quick look at the meter, and for some reason, it said "expires at 1:30 pm" or something like that. Do previous cars' allotted times continue even when the next person parks, and does the next person parking need to somehow stop the time and then start another session, or something like that? Just curious. Secondly, as I wrote in a comment that I realize was directed to the "other" and "public works" section of this site rather than parking, I would like to apologize again for a nasty, profane complaint letter that I included in the envelope I used to pay my parking ticket. I wrote the letter essentially in the heat of the moment, and did not mean anything I wrote at all. You may not have received the envelope yet, but it was poorly written, so please disregard it. I have a much higher view of the city than what the letter indicates and take full responsibility for today's parking situation.

300-302 West 6th Street

I received a parking ticket on 11/09/2013 due to incorrect signage for the new parking meters. It is not clear which meter is for a specific parking space in front of Le Petit Cafe on 6th Street on the north side of the street. It is not clear that the space farthest to the east just next to the rails-to-trails path is a valid parking spot since the east side of the space has a yellow curb. Yellow curbs typically indicate "no parking." this are needs better signage. That space isn't even wide enough for the average car if it is even supposed to be a parking space. The curb should be repainted to clearly indicate if it is a parking space or not.
