Farmers Market Shutdown, I have no idea what threats or racial incivility the Mayor knows exist in the Bloomington farmers market that threaten the community. I don’t know what “the” white supremacists said, did or threatened to do in Bloomington. Did some nut case threaten to drive a truckload of nitrates into the courthouse like a disgruntled landowner did up in Lafayette years ago. If so, arrest them. Lead, don’t cower. If the offense isn’t prosecutable stay calm and carry on with business. Open the Market. Sell veggies...not manure.

Hi, New York resident, from Michigan, educated in Ann Arbor, just read the NY Times piece on the arrest at the Farmers' Market of the IU prof protesting the "white supremacists". Might I please commend the members of the Bloomington Police for their conduct that day and every day. You make me proud. We were the anti-Vietnam generation. Years without a culture of Lessons Learned, only affluence, has given a culture that doesn't work together. You must police a culture of opinions + orifices that does not build a thing except a self-image. Know that we need you and walk with you. I would love to know when you plan to put a stop to the “No space for hate” Antifa group that is ruining our town and has already ruined the farmers market. They are nothing more than bullies and quickly becoming more of a terrorist group than anything relating to peaceful protest. They are harassing citizens of Bloomington. Even showing up at their place of work to terrorize them if they think their beliefs don’t align with the groups. Most often without justification. I don’t agree with Schooner Creek Farms belief either, but this group is completely out of control and something needs to be done about it sooner than later before we end up with someone getting killed.

Increase in taxes: No more new taxes! The mayor's proposed increase in the optional income tax is nothing but a money grab. Evidence is now coming out as departments are hustling to come up with ideas about how to spend the money, such as housing and transportation in addition to the climate stuff. Bloomington is not and will not change the climate. How about sound good projects and then figure out how to sell them and fund them with the public. How about looking at efficient ways of doing city business? No new taxes!!
