Hi, The trash collector seemed to be in a hurry today and there were 5 trashcans on their sides in our neighborhood...ours was one of them. We have asked you kindly to please not dump our trashcans on their sides while picking up the trash. They damage the trashcans as well as the driveway that we spent $1600 to black top. We find it very disrespectful of the trash collector to just throw around our trashcans after picking up the trash when he could so easily gently put them down so they stand up if he would slow down a little while doing his job. We have video cameras on our property and this gets caught on our video cameras. Do we need to start fining the city each time they damage our trashcan and driveway by throwing the trashcans on their side in our driveway? It is frustrating when we pay so much in property and city taxes to have our property damaged by the city.

The trash/recycling crew left most all cans thrown off the sidewalk, into the road on their sides today. This is not normally the case, and it was absolutely NOT weather related. The trucks woke me up three times today. And then I find my trash can only half emptied, with one bag still in it. Either the trucks are malfunctioning, or someone was in a bit of a hurry to get done with the route.

Hello - I sent an email to sanitation department Wednesday morning but haven't heard back so trying this route... I live at 1205 S Washington St and our trash can went missing sometime between 1am and 9am early Tuesday morning. I've sent a note around to the neighborhood email list in hopes that someone will notice a random one abandoned in their yard. But so far no one has. A neighbor thinks he may have heard it traveling north on Lincoln near the intersection of Dodds around 2am). What's the next step? We don't produce much trash so could likely skip a week of trash pickup if there's a chance it'll be spotted by your tracking equipment elsewhere. Thanks for your help, Jenn

Bloomington Sanitation Department, At 3 AM of Wednesday, August 8, 2020 on the morning of trash pickup day at 1412 S. Winfield Rd., 47401, my wife was up watching a recorded news program when a crash was heard from the bottom of our driveway where the cans awaited pickup. The bang was followed by a loud dragging sound. She walked to the bottom of the drive and found the landscaping can in the recycling can were gone. She woke me and we searched for the cans until we found them three doors south on the Boulevard of the Southwest corner of the Moores Pike roundabout. At first I thought at 3 AM, it must've been a drunk. However, the more I thought about it, the more unlikely I thought it would be that a drunk would be able to retain the cans for 50 yards. Retaining the cans brings me to the question which I thought worth sharing with the city. I cannot think of any way to carry the cans that far without damaging one's vehicle other than the way the city does it – hooking a lifter up under the bar built-into the can. If a prankster is trying to develop a "trick-or-treat… Throw your garbage in the streets" system, the potential chaos it could create for the city sanitation system seems to me to be huge and I would recommend that the city proactively try to answer the following questions. 1.) Have any of the lifting mechanisms used by the city trucks ever disappeared? 2.) Since this system is presumably used throughout the country, can such a lifter be bought online? 3.) Are there any YouTube videos about how to make a lifter that someone could have been testing on Winfield Road? 4.) Has the company from which the city purchased the cans and lifters had experience with cans being fiddled with when they are sitting ducks beside the road the night before garbage pickup? If so, what did these other municipalities do about it? I got my cans and my trash back in time to leave it out for pickup, but the next victim might not be so lucky. My trash bin disappeared after Monday (7/20). I came at noon at home and only the recycling bin was there.

I reported that our trash was not picked up on Thursday as it should have been. I received a message from Rhea Carter at noon, saying "We picked up today." I just checked my waste cart. The cart has not been moved and the trash bag is still in it.

Our trash can was not emptied today. This issue has happened more than once. Could you please tell me why? We have done everything that we're supposed to do--the trash can is on the subside and more than six feet away from the mailbox. You pick up trash from my neighbors because I can see the other trash cans are sideways or show other signs of being moved. Why leave us out? I am not happy to come home and have to deal with the trash (yet again) that has become very stinky for sitting there under the sun and will become even more so if I wait for another week.
