Traffic southbound on Jordan is always held up by people waiting for the left turn to go east on Atwater. Countless times I've seen that the light has already cycled to yellow by the time northbound traffic has cleared, and as a result cars have backed up all the way to third st. If the switching equipment allows jordan southbound to get green BEFORE jordan northbound, it will improve intersection throughput tremendously.
There needs to be a traffic light at the intersection of 10th and Smith Rd. It can be very challenging turning on to 10th St. due to traffic that doesn't have to stop.
I was traveling east on 10th St. and got into the right-hand turn lane (with turn signal on) to turn right/south on Smith Road. As I turned right, a car facing north on Smith Road turned left to head west on 10th St. and did not see an oncoming car and the eastbound car on 10th street had to brake quickly to avoid an accident...stopping within a few feet of the turning car. With the new traffic light at the Post Office intersection on 10th st, GPS is routing more people east/west on 10th street to/from Smith Rd and more locals are also using this route. This is turning an already dangerous intersection more dangerous. Turning left off smith onto 10th street requires timing to avoid a car coming east around the curve on east 10th street...and the same for turning left onto Smith off 10th street. Please consider a stop light at this intersection. Thank You.
I just moved to 2nd and Swain. The corner needs a stop sign for all ways, not just for traffic on Swain. Most of the intersections along 2nd have 4-way stops; this intersection is the exception for some reason. Drivers go way faster than the 25mph allowed; the area is quite congested with students moving back into the area.
I frequently travel N and S on Hunter, and it is very, very difficult because of street parking to see whether there is oncoming traffic at this Woodlawn intersection. (There are other similar situations in the neighborhood, but this one is particularly bad.) it would be wonderful if there were convex traffic mirrors to be able to see around the corner. These are commonly used in low-visibility corners in Europe, and can be highly effective.
The intersection at north 10th, Smith road, and Russell road is one of the most dangerous in Bloomington. I believe there needs to be a traffic light there to allow people to turn from Smith Road. It's almost impossible for drivers coming off Smith Road to turn either right or left onto 10th or Russell, especially during rush hour traffic. Visibility is poor because 10th street curves in unusual ways at that intersection, and none of the two-way traffic wants to yield. Bus traffic from 10th Street compounds the problem. Hello. There is a battered, fallen-over road construction sign on the sidewalk on the north side of Third Street between College Avenue and Walnut Street. I believe this is leftover from the College Avenue road upgrade project that was recently completed south of Third Street. Can this sign be removed please? In its present condition it
Tapp Road And Rockport Road needs to have a signal light . It is overwhelmed as a 4 way stop sighn and creates a huge backup during busy times. Tapp road will need to be a 4 lane hwy soon.
Large semi trucks turn off Rogers onto W. 4th. When they get to the cemetery, they can't turn right onto Elm nor go into the cemetery to turn around. There is a sign at the entrance to the cemetery that says no large trucks. It would be helpful if there we a sign at Rogers and 4th. My tree branches are often knocked off and I fear that my car or someone else's will get hit as these large trucks back down the street to where they can turn. Thank you. Gracia Valliant
In the alley adjacent to Bloomington Center for Global Children at 1111 North Walnut Street, traffic often travels both ways. As a parent who picks up a young child there, I am keenly aware of the danger presented by a two way alley adjacent to a child care center. I am requesting that this alley be made one way with traffic control as well, as the traffic traveling north on Walnut street presents another danger to those individuals turning west into the alley next to the center.
