Hello, Mr. Hamilton. I have a student graduating from IU next fall. We put our names on a waitlist for Hilton Hotel two years prior. We just received the quote for the three night stay---3,000 which does not include parking or taxes. I wrote them and said this is highway robbery. We thought it would go to 500 per night and expected 1500 rates for the 3 days, however, them going up to 900-1000 plus a night is uncalled for. The sales manager, Diana Thomas, at Hilton Garde Inn wrote me back and said it is 'unfortunately, a market thing with occupancy going way up at graduation driving market.' I understand that rooms are in demand....that is why we booked two years ago. However, do you think, as mayor of your town, that upping the room rate to 900-1,000 per night....which is about a 400-500% increase is reasonable? I think this is something to be looked into. There has to be some sort of regulation or assistance in this college town. As parents, we are already flying in, going to your restaurants, paying for school/tuition and paying for housing and groceries for our kids. This is complete greed and gouging to me and I wanted to make you aware. (Sadly, we and our 6 other parent groups had to cancel due to this unreal price hike.) Thank you for reading. (Which I do hope you, as the mayor read this and not an assistant or tech person.) Appreciate that. -Wendy Deutsch

I have seen multiple people sharing images and warnings that the Goodwill on South College Mall Rd has an active bedbug infestation, with photos showing adult bedbugs on clothing in the store. This is a public health concern, but I can find no information about whether a business is required to 1) notify potential customers who may come to the store, and 2) take action to eliminate the pests by hiring a professional service.

Charlestowne Manor Developer (Chuck Short) billed the neighborhood for $325 in 2023 and has since turned it over to a company to manage and they are only charging $250 in 2024 for dues. No one will not return our "over payment" or say where our money is going. This seems very suspicious from the developer. We cannot get any answers and need someone to look into this.

Other: Well past city quiet hours, either IMEI or Catalent are running equipment that beeps so loudly I can hear it from inside my home. During the day, this is expected and understood since I chose to purchase a home near these businesses. However, regularly at 11pm on a Wednesday or 3am on a Monday, I am either kept awake or woken up by consistent and constant beeping. I am not sure what the City can do to enforce quiet hours upon businesses but it would be really great if something could be done.

We want to formally oppose Tyler Curry's proposed development on Morningside Drive. He wants to build a self-storage building right next to a park and a family neighborhood, which I find completely inappropriate. This is an area where children play soccer, go sledding in the winter, and walk to the local ice cream shop. This is a safe, quiet neighborhood that should not have a self-storage facility placed in it. We believe that a self-storage facility would make the park and surrounding area unsafe for these young families. Please consider telling Tyler Curry no.
