This light is on a timer, rather than sensors, so people just sit waiting even when there's no traffic coming from other directions. It's especially annoying when the left turn arrows engage when no one is there. I've reported this light for about 2 years now. Very inconvenient and frustrating to sit and sit when no traffic is coming from other directions.
Pretty sure this light used to be on a sensor and now it seems to be on a timer. The past else real Sundays I've driven through some time between 10:15am and 1:30pm the east-west has turned red with zero cars in the north or south sides of the intersection. And no vehicles have triggered it but then turned right onto Tapp. With much less traffic on Sundays it'd be great to have it (back?) on a sensor.
The light at Tapp Rd and Deborah Dr has been triggering to green for Deborah Drive with no traffic present. It's stops Tapp Rd for 40 seconds for no reason. Can this be fixed when it's only green when there is traffic on Deborah vs randomly for no reason?
The traffic signal for southbound traffic on Rogers heading to the intersection with 2nd Street is a mess. Why is there no left turn arrow? Why is the light only 18 seconds from the time it turns green to when it turns red again? The detour for College Ave. being closed to southbound traffic goes onto Rogers south to east on 2nd, yet this is the best setup we have? An 18 second traffic signal with no left turn arrow? Brilliant.
2nd and Adams. Traffic light stays green for north/south traffic for about 3 seconds. I almost got hit by someone coming west this kight has been a problem for 25 years. Fix it please
I was driving east, trying to go straight through the Covenanter/College Mall intersection. I was in the eastbound straight lane right behind the stop bar. The signal did not detect my vehicle (a small SUV) and I ended up sitting through three light cycles (westbound traffic was getting a green, but not eastbound) before more vehicles came up behind me and then finally got a green light. I've experienced this same thing routinely on bicycle and I've learned to wheel over onto the sidewalk and push the button, but this was the first time it's happened to me in a car and I didn't really have any options other than to sit. The left turn signal on eastbound Winslow to turn north into Walnut is way too short. It's allowing 2-3 vehicles maximum per green arrow. It took 3 light cycles for me to get through. This arrow used to be longer before the detour on Rogers. Classic City of Bloomington government to push all of Rogers traffic into this turn lane as the detour and not get the lights working with the increase in traffic flow. Go check it out please! The crossing button is vandalized and waving signal is not possible. Southeast corner of E Smith Ave and S Walnut St
The east-west signal at Covenanter and College Mall Rd remains a persistent problem for cyclists. The signal seems to be triggered at best by a motor vehicle presence, meaning a cyclist approaching the intersection with no car nearby has no way to get a green light except by pressing a pedestrian beg button that is not accessible from the road. This is a recurrent problem that keeps getting marked “closed” but without real evidence that the matter has been addressed successfully for east-west transportation at this intersection.
