Looking to see if a new sidewalk could be built between Adams street and Bloomfield Road. There are already sidewalks up to the intersection of Adams and Allen Street extending a little beyond (in front of the Bloom apartment complex). An extension of this sidewalk to Bloomfield road would connect all residents in this area to other sidewalks in Bloomington.
North of the Constitution a long Liberty Drive there is only a sidewalk on the east side of the street, and the BMV is where the last crosswalk is. Pedestrians are expected to only need to access the east side of the street where the car dealerships are, but have no sidewalk or crosswalks to get to services such as IU Health, the dentist, or Goodwill where many low-income people shop and work. To cross the street from Menards to go to Goodwill, cars are not expected to slow down or stop for crossing pedestrians without any markers and there is a bend in the road there. You could walk along the grass, but the terrain is uneven and would be dangerous if there was mud or snow, and anytime after dark, and it stays dark in the morning and gets dark early in the evening during winter. I truly believe that the west side of the street needs a sidewalk north of Constitution and the last bus stop, and there needs to be crosswalks on Liberty between Constitution and West 3rd Street north of the last bus stop. If there were a sidewalk on the west side of Liberty, bus riders could choose getting off the bus near Kroger and walk the length of the sidewalk or use crosswalks, or get off the bus where Liberty meets Constitution and walk. Many students have to jaywalk every day here to catch a bus, and 99% of drivers don’t understand the situation. If you do a quick search, you'll realize this has been an ongoing safety issue for 5–6 years. I’ve raised it before (last year and again this year), but nothing has changed. Requesting new sidewalk along N Fairview St between BLine Trail and W 11th Street. Sidewalk is cracked/broken. Access issue for wheelchair
Not only are there are no sidewalks in the area, which is used by many people using public transportation, but there is no bus shelter. Those in wheelchairs are forced to ride in the street as you can see from the provided photo. This is a major safety concern. Additionally, there is no shelter from the sun at the bus stop unless you stand up against a nearby building, which is an issue for those with mobility problems. Please evaluate this area.
Google Maps believes E 10th St is entirely walkable, but in fact there is a stretch from the intersection at N Smith until the sidewalk starts at Fountain Park Apartments without any sidewalk. It is not safe to walk, and it also means many directions given online are dangerous.
I live at Fountain Park Apartments and am constantly witnessing dangerous crossings of pedestrians on E10th St and Pete Ellis Drive. There is no crosswalk at the intersection on either side of the outlined location. I think adding a crosswalk and pedestrian crossing light at the intersection would prevent a lot of these issues. The sidewalk here ends abruptly, so people walk in the street. Would be nice to have a full sidewalk for families and the neighborhood.
This stretch currently has no pedestrian walkway on the north side, forcing people to walk in the street or on uneven grass/gravel shoulders to reach the businesses at Edwards Square Plaza. While a sidewalk exists on the south side of East 3rd Street, high-speed traffic in both directions — eastbound and westbound — makes it unsafe and impractical for pedestrians to cross over to use it. As a result, anyone walking on the north side currently has no safe option at all. Adding this sidewalk would connect an existing gap in the pedestrian network, eliminate the need for a dangerous crossing, improve pedestrian safety, support foot traffic to local businesses, and bring this section in line with walkability standards elsewhere in the area.
