The stoplight on Walnut at the intersection of South Drive is red for 41 seconds… There are never any cars on South Drive… There's absolutely no reason for this light to be red for that long
The light was (for the last 20 years or so) using sensors in the pavement to trigger the light and only worked when traffic needed it. Now, it is only timed and not dependent on traffic, so Walnut backs up both ways for no reason- not a car in sight from the school or the old Kia dealership.
The light cycle that lets outlet traffic from Deborah Drive appears to take longer and is timed. This change is not necessary as there is not enough traffic compared to Tapp Road to justify that length of a light cycle. Also if the city should ever consider it that merge lane when heading east on Tapp road should either become a two lane all down Tapp to accommodate for traffic flow to pass around left turners into The Mill OR be gone entirely. It just permits risky drivers to go into the right lane at this intersection knowing full well there is a line of cars waiting at the light cycle and that the lane merge is right after the light and they choose to "race" traffic and cut in when it is unnecessary. Even if one would argue a zipper merge there are times when it is necessary and in a populated neighborhood area it is not.

Nuisance lights unshielded exposed elements causing glare and light trespass.
This is the 2nd time I’m reaching out about a nuisance light. I reached out on 06/16/26 about a nuisance light on the neighboring houses property. That case number is #211729. The case still just says open. The house is currently vacant. There is a private light pole on the property that is so bright it illuminates my backyard plus my bedroom windows. Because of this I I am having a lot of difficulty sleeping. I don’t mean to sound like that person but I am a first responder that spends a lot of time awake through the night so when I’m at home, my sleep is very important to me. Also because of this light, my family and I are no longer able to sit out on our back porch in the evenings due to being blinded by this light. I did send one image and my first complaint. It shows where the light is in comparison to my back yard. I will send another picture with this complaint. The picture with this complaint is my face illuminated from the light as I sit on my back porch in the evening. If need be I have many more pictures I would be glad to send. Unshielded lights with exposed elements on East side porch left on day and night causing glare and light trespass.
There is a light on the property that neighbors my house that violates the light trespass laws. It sits high on a pole in their back yard and subsequently illuminates my backyard as well as both bedrooms in my house. This light is extremely bright and because of this we have had trouble sleeping due to the light coming in to our bedroom. Also because of this light we have not been able to enjoy sitting on our back porch in the evenings due to the light shining directly in to our eyes. I’ve also talked to the neighbor on the other side of the house and she is having issues as well with the light shining on her property. The property that owns the light is currently vacant. I’d like for something to be done about this as it has become a major nuisance to my household.
