Hello, we live in Sherwood Oaks and there is not a safe way to get to the biking trail starting on Rhorer at Walnut Street Pike. People are often walking or biking up the last two blocks of Walnut Street Pike to reach that connection. It's not safe. We'd be so grateful if the sidewalk could be completed on the East Side of Walnut Street Pike between Rhorer and Heather Drive. This would allow people to access Kroger and the Rail Trail more safely. Other wishlist items are paving the rail-trail that connects the B-Line and Clear Creek Trail,and extending sidewalks along Rhorer all the way from Walnut Street Pike to Sare (or at least to Benson). It would also be nice if the sidewalk along the East Side of Walnut Street Pike extended all the way from Rhorer to Winslow, but finishing a sidewalk on the E or W side of Walnut Street Pike between E. Heather and Rhorer is really essential to pedestrian and biker safety. We love all of the investments we're seeing Bloomington making in parks, recreation and infrastructure. We really value this as a family with young children. We're just surprised how patchy the sidewalks surrounding our neighborhood are, with some suddenly stopping (Walnut Street Pike + Rhorer) and others reworked only to a certain point (example biking from Winslow Plaza east to Highland or Allendale is challenging). This makes it difficult to access all of the new paved biking/walking trails that connect to the Rail Trail and B-Line. On December 30, 2023, a camping trailer arrived on the property and appears to be occupied, potentially in violation of city codes 20.03.030 (g) Accessory Uses and Structures. (1) Generally (C) Prohibitions. and 20.04.060 (n) Use of Parking Areas. (5) Storage, Occupancy, or Similar Uses. While the parking and occupancy of the trailer itself raise concerns, my main concern lies with the overall condition of the property. Over the past few months, there has been a noticeable accumulation of debris on the driveway, in bushes, and throughout the yard. This includes items such as tires, biking equipment, and various other objects scattered about, which detract from the character and property values of the neighborhood. I understand that personal property management is an individual choice, but the current state of the property at 2603 S Bryan St significantly impacts the surrounding environment and creates a less-than-desirable atmosphere for neighbors. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could investigate this matter and take appropriate action.

There is a dumpster in the alley behind Indiana Auto Sales (not sure if it is residential or commerical) that is not up to code for a business in Bloomington (no concrete slap, and no surrounding fence / wall).

A lot of random junk, trash, and rundown vehicles scattered through driveway, lawn and side of property. There are also many piles of feces scattered through the lawn, contributing to the health concern of the unnecessary build up of trash and junk. Stray cats appear to be living in the junk and vehicles. Trash blows from this yard into neighboring properties and all of the junk creates a massive eyesore for surrounding homeowners. It appears the property owner also stores a trailer and additional vehicle in the street due to the inability to fit any more vehicles into the driveway. The negligence of this homeowner is creating an unhealthy and ugly problem for the entire neighborhood. Something needs to be done about this immediately.

The construction on Rhorer and Gordon Pike has pushed a lot of the thru-traffic on the South side to East Burks Dr., resulting in a traffic load that the small, curved road wasn't designed for. More cars are coming through, and not always at a safe speed. This issue is highlighted by the fact that currently, there are no signs prohibiting parking on either side of Burks Dr., so residents park on both sides of the street. This creates a one-lane road that has to accommodate a large traffic load (relative to it's design). Some residents have even taken to parking large tractor/trailer vehicles on the road, which almost completely eliminates visibility of oncoming traffic as you round the bend going from west-to-east. My suggestion is to please restrict parking to the east-to-west side of the street, and post "No Parking" signs on the west-to-east side of the street. This allows for the greatest visibility for both sides of traffic, and also maintains two-way traffic, an important element to South side transportation with alternate routes still under construction.

There are no stop signs or speed bumps for a long section on Maxwell Lane between High Street and Jordan Avenue. The speed limit is 25. People are regularly driving 50. From Jordan heading east toward Sheridan there is a hill. Traffic turning or crossing at Mitchell aren’t able to see over the hill. If people drove the posted speed limit, it would not be an issue. There is regular honking as people speeding east on Maxwell crest the hill to find cars turning onto Maxwell from Mitchell or the residences. There are also many elementary students in the very near area, and a bus stop on Maxwell at Sheridan. A stop sign at Mitchell or Sheridan on Maxwell would drastically improve the safety of the area.

Intersection at South Rogers and Chambers is often blocked for vehicles entering or exiting Chambers. Blocked traffic is due to close proximity to Rockport and South Rogers intersection. Please paint white X or similar markings on pavement at Chambers and South Rogers intersection to keep vehicles off of this 3 way intersection.

We live on the only road in Sherwood Oaks that has no side walks for pedestrians to use for safety when walking/biking. The issue with this is we live on a main thoroughfare to Sherwood Oaks Park, Rodgers Park, Clear Creek Trail, Childs Elementary, and Jackson Creek Elementary. We need better signs, and speed reduction devices such as speed bumps to slow down traffic that speed through our area and are a hazard to all that walk to the above places including children. The refusal to make this street part of the park green way and safer is absolutely absurd. The past excuses from the city included that we are a dead end with no speeding tickets or wrecks, which is why the city has refused to take action in the past. Please do not wait for someone to get injured or die on this road before you make it safer for all that live and use it for recreation.

Hello, I've been talking to several residents of Sunny Slopes who have children who play outside. We have been having many issues with cars speeding down this road, and around the curves.
