Ali Hagenbuckle reported that many people smoke outside two businesses at 115. E 2nd street and they could benefit from signage that tells people about the ordinance and to not smoke in front of the businesses.
This is on 6th Street between Walnut and Washington Streets on the north side of the road on the northwest corner of the alleyway. The sidewalk is raised above a 1/2" (ADA says less) making it hard for a manual wheelchair to get over it. Must go around the block or out into the street. Can it be smoothed down or asphalt added to make it beveled?
I am a resident of Bloomington and live at: 3445 Constance Avenue I am enrolled in a college course called Environmental Technology. I have a project to perform and was asked by my instructor for the following items of the city where I live, Water Treatment Facility. 1. Types of pipe material 2. Initial cost of the water treatment system 3. Design water flow rate 4. Number of water towers and pumping stations 5. Problems with the system since it was built in 1967 6. Change in elevation from highest to lowest compared to where the location of water treatment facility 7. Types of disinfectant used I found three websites with a lot of information that I need but is there any other sites that would give me some of the answers to the questions listed above? Problems at 115 E Sunny Slopes Dr House abandoned for over a year-past owner called, but no action-I am neighbor (at 105) and I mowed the front, but the back is over 24" high-and big problem with pool in back that has not been drained for 2 years or more (serious mosquito threat)
Update for id=168611 notice indicated that the ticket was closed based on promise by owner to mow week of 6/10 today's date is 6/17 and no mowing has taken place also: who do I approach about pool (in backyard of same abandoned residence) that has not been drained/treated in two years and is attracting wildlife?
Our residence is 1002 W. Acuff Road. We're the only house on that road, but we have NO curbs!! Rain and water has cut a trench along the road which makes it difficult to mow our grass. All the rain and water washes dirt from the farm field behind our house through the trench and all the debris completely covers our storm drain on the corner (near the pole in the picture), and the water washes all across Kinser Pike rather than going in the drain. People are constantly driving through our yard and cutting the corner where the storm drain is. We are CONSTANTLY cleaning out the drain ourselves. We REALLY NEED curbs on Acuff Road. Please help!!!!!
We live on the corner of Acuff Road and Kinser Pike. Under the thick layer of soil and big pile of leaves lies our metal storm drain. Rain rushes and washes dirt from the farm field behind our house via the deep trench along the side of Acuff Road (obviously we have NO curbs or rain gutters), and all that debris ends up on top of our storm drain. The drain is consistently covered and therefore clogged, so all the rain water rushes right over it and flows onto Kinser Pike. We are constantly cleaning all the collected debris from the grate even though we pay for this cleaning/maintenance service on our monthly water bill. We are in desperate need of a solution to this problem.
This is a follow-up to case # 167833. So the storm drain was uncovered, which is good, however, all the debris that was covering it was thrown in our yard--very much NOT appreciated!!! Now, we have to clean that up. Plus, the 4 or so inches of silt/sand/soil in front of the grate is keeping the rain water from reaching the storm sewer as seen in my photo. We received rain today, and it just collected on the road.
So, in lieu of a true rain gutter, the street department filled in the deep crevice along Acuff Road with gravel, which after a couple spring rains has washed down in front of our storm drain. As it continues to rain, more gravel will wash. We need a true rain gutter, or the crevice along Acuff needs to be filled in with black top or concrete--something permanent.
