Sherwood oaks neighborhood has unsafe streets for multimodal shared roads and inaccessible sidewalks for handicapped individuals in wheelchairs.
2nd St Bloomfield Rd traffic signal @ TLRC is timed inefficiently worked all summer fine now you’ve got traffic backed to Rogers St Rolling Ridge does not need that much time get past this signal & away we travel again. FIX I T!!!!!
I live between Kenwood Dr. and 16th Street where it intersects with Madison Avenue. Kenwood Dr. and 16th street are both very small, and I have a couple of reasons to think that they should be made one ways. I have had multiple times where I have been trying to turn into Kenwood Dr. from Madison, and had a car blocking my way because they were coming out that way. Similarly, I have not been able to get into my parking lot on 16th street because of someone coming from Madison as I was coming in from Woodburn Avenue. It would really help the flow of traffic if there were one way signs, and clearer street signs in this area, and prevent traffic blocks on these small roads. On Kenwood drive, there is an apartment complex with diagonal parking, facing east. I have noticed that the car on the end has a lot of dings, from people turning into their car. I think this is happening because of the fact that when another car is blocking your way, you have to make a wide turn into Kenwood Dr. and then the person's car is in the crossfire. I hope this is clear enough evidence and that it will be taken into consideration.
Yesterday, for the first time, my garbage container was emptied but not my recyclables bin--they were out together. As it is full, I either need an extra pickup--or to be able to leave another container (old trash barrel)of recyclables out next Wednesday. Thanks, Jim Barnes, 1305 S. I would like to request sidewalks/speed bumps on Elliston Dr. in Sherwood Oaks Neighborhood. Elliston is the main thourough fair to Sherwood Oaks Park, Jackson Creek Trail and Olcott Park, which also leads to Childs Elementary and Jackson Creek Middle School. There is significant foot traffic daily of adults, kids and pets being walked. Children go to school on this route and yet there is nothing provided to keep them safe. There are currently no sidewalks to keep foot traffic safe and no speed bumps to slow down traffic. People speed through this area whether local traffic or visitors to the park and what the city has done to date is not enough. Someone is going to get hurt and it will be on the onus of those who have chose to do nothing to keep pedestrians safe. Please consider making a change and putting sidewalks/speed bumps in to allow for safe travels for all in this area. Thank you
There is a blind corner at the corner of S Palmer Ave and E Driscoll St. I was driving south on Palmer and a car pulled out in front of me because they could not see me coming. I slammed on the brakes and I came very close to hitting the other car. If you drive by it is obvious that something needs to be done or someone is going to get injured.
The area of Hillside between Weatherstone and Olive has its share of potholes, but it also has a water pipe that is missing its lid. Earlier today the lid was at the curb cut on the east side of Weatherstone although the pipe hole is closer to Olive. Where Olive meets Hillside there is the remains of what used to be a concrete lip, but is almost entirely broken up now.
The Highland-Hawthorne Bike greenway crosses Hillside Drive at Weatherstone/Olive. This crossing can be difficult and somewhat dangerous, as traffic on Hillside often seems to traveling quite fast, and can be quite busy at certain times of the day. Could the city look into placing a button activated crossing here, much like the one for crossing Walnut at Allen? This could go a long way towards making this crossing a bit safer for families trying to utilize the greenway to access Bryan Park.
On August 27, a bicyclist came down Olive Street, which is a city bike lane, and flew into traffic in front of my truck. It was raining and I slammed on my brakes but it was too late and I hit him with my truck. The man who is a teacher at IU ended up with two spinal fractures, a horribly broken leg and a concussion. He was at fault but if you take a look at that hill it is very steep. I think his brakes locked up and he hydroplaned into the road. There was busy traffic going both ways on Hillside. This happened at 8:35 AM in the rain in front of a school bus from Templeton. I live in the Arden neighborhood and we walk our children to school at Harmony often. There is NO CROSSWALK anywhere between High Street and Henderson Street. It makes me nervous to try and send my kids to school on bikes or even let them walk. I hope that there maybe something that could be done at that intersection in the form of a sign or flashing light and some paint across the street to make people aware that bicyclist maybe crossing there. As I was going down Hillside today, I saw another bicyclist shoot out across the road from Olive up to Weatherstone. I think the bicyclist don’t always know how steep that hill is and you can’t really see the traffic on Hillside until you are at the bottom of it. I was 8 months pregnant on my way to a OB appt at 8:35 when this wreck accured. Traffic was very heavy and everyone was going the speed limit. Even though he was at fault in the eyes of the law, this accident ruined his life I’m sure. I really dont want any stop signs on hillside but like I said, some kind of cross walk might be smart since there is a park and a school within a block of this incident. Thank you
