Cars try to drive through wich causes waves to sending more water into the effected houses. 18" in the street. Years of neighbors and past residents call for help have garnered no response from the city.
Storm drainage (and even some lighter rainstorms) has repeatedly been eroding and flooding our backyard and street. The recent storms have heightened our concern at the impact runoff water and debris is having on our home/yard, our neighbors yard, and the street below us. The elevation of our yard and street is lower than that of the woods behind us and the street above us (Georgetown Road). All of the water from these locations has eroded channels and pools in their yards, guiding the water into our yard. The water pools in our backyard, increasingly threatening our house. In addition to the large volume of water this forces on our yard and street, we are bombarded by leaves, large sticks, and other misc. debris. This debris clogs the sewer drains at the other end of our street and clutters the street. The amount of water runoff continues to increase on a daily rate and has started to erode dirt in both our and our neighbors front lawns, leading us to believe that increased drainage at the street above or our street are required. If not, alternate solutions and suggestions are requested. If city help is not possible, than approval for commercial drainage/directing of the water through our yard and into the street is requested for approval. My basement has flooded due to street runoff twice within the last 7 years and has ruined my furnace and water heater. I am requesting the city pour a curb along the front of my street where my house is facing to prevent future damage.
Received notification that water pressure would be reduced on Friday, 11/2, 10a-2p due to intersection work at E Rhorer/S Walnut Pike. Water pressure is worse today (Saturday 11/3) and no one is working at the intersection.
#166419 Drainage or Runoff: Other: Hello, I am a property owner in the shadow creek subdivision and wish to file an anonymous complaint against the owner of the property at 1527 s andrew circle. I could not figure out how to manipulate your location map above so please ignore that address. I am building a house on the adjoining lot and am concerned about the serious flooding every time it rains. It has gotten worse since additional dirt has been added to the lot , and since i last reported the problem to the city last summer. Please see the picture attached and make a drive by for yourself to verify. It may overflow its banks tonight with the heavy rain that is predicted. It could flood my basement and the downhill neighbor potentially. But more important to the neighborhood and the city are the potentials for mosquitoes and even children or animals getting hurt in there. It should be an easy fix for the builder to rework the dirt he put in there to fill in the low spots and raise the grade for natural gravity drainage until he actually builds a house there. Thank you for your prompt attention to the issue . It seems to have been ignored after my previous complaint which was before the previous owner(developer ?) sold it. Where the new water line is going in on Arlington/17th there is cut actoss the road at the 46 bridge. It has been pretty deep to drive across but today on my way home the west bound lane has ~6inch drop towards the shoulder. Even slowing down I was afraid I damaged my car because you cant see the drop until you have already drove across it. Im in a bigger vechicle and it was a huge jar...

Thanks Kelsey, The creek has been much clearer lately. I appreciate you following up. Usually when it is cloudy, it clears up in a day or two. I do watch it closely and will let you know, but unless you are able to get out right away, it may be difficult for you to see it when it is looking bad. Mr. Horvath, the sediment in Jackson Creek at Rock Creek Drive may have been a result of construction in the watershed. There is one construction project upstream from your location that may have contributed sediment in the past, but according to our Planning Department who manages the grading permits, that site has since been stabilized. I was in the area last week and observed some utility work being done in the neighborhood, but can't say if that was what caused the sediment in the stream on 2/2/2019.
