I would like to thank the city of Bloomington for their professional assistance in helping me avoid a significant problem at my home during the recent snap of epic cold weather. It all began with frozen water pipes when I failed to keep a small stream of water running in my city townhouse; there was no excuse on my part for the mistake. To make matters worse, I needed to catch a flight out of town later that day. This is where the city came to the rescue. I quickly and easily found the city utility web site and created a work ticket from the easy to follow instructions. Literally within minutes, a highly trained and cordial city employee called me and walked me through the steps I needed to take to reduce any potential damage to my water pipes. Only minutes later, a two person team arrived and worked in zero degree weather and quickly turned off the water at the meter. They went so far as to reassure me that they would be back soon after I got back to town and to just give them a call. Despite the near zero temperature, they never once complained about the outdoor working conditions. I was impressed. When I got back to town, I created another work ticket, and the customer service process repeated itself, leading to a perfect resolution to the problem. There is gravel on East Allen Street especially at the intersections of Palmer, Dunn and Grant. It's on those cross streets and extends into Allen. Allen is a designated bicycle boulevard and avoiding this gravel forces bicyclists to ride toward the middle of the street.

These two cars have not moved for at least 2 years. The van is rusted out with flat tires. Is this allowed within the city? It is unsightly near my home.

Can we please get a barrier like cones to partition the bike lane on third? This would help bikers feel safer and actually use the lanes and cars from blocking other cars and buses and creating problems by CONSTANTLY parking in a no parking area by slowing down and pulling over. I get annoyed as a driver but would be even more mad if trying to bike or driving a bus.
