Bryan Park, west side of the stream that runs into Sheridan Creek near the bridge just north of restrooms. PLEASE advise mowers to mow the ragweed that grows all along there. Last year what wasn't mowed grew 3-4 feet high, flowered, and released the pollen many people are allergic to. The whole slope down from the picnic shelter in the background is full of ragweed but it got mowed and nev0er flowered. Thanks!!

Our house backs up to Rollingbrook Park and there is a city wood fence surrounding the park. Over the years several sections have been replaced by the city. I’ve lived here 24 years and in that time our section has never been replaced. Well it’s dry rotted and falling over. The other day a child wandered over to our house from the park. I did not see a parent. I called out to see if there was someone with him. He attempted to climb over the dry rotted fence and fell over. Siddenly the non existent parent comes running over screaming she is going to sue me- over my broken fence. I informed her it was a city fence not mine. I want this taken care of so I don’t have to deal w this, and so the city doesn’t end up getting sued.

One of the swings at Butler Park is broken. Lots of kids out there and we really need this swing. It just needs a tool to place the chain back on the seat. Thanks so much!!

Park Ridge East Park is VERY dark at night. And recently has had some night activity making the area feel unsafe. Several residents have mentioned it. Can we PLEASE get a solar LED post or two along the path or a pole light somewhere to add even just a bit of night light there. Thank you.

There are two parks at Bryan Park. I’m specifically talking about the one that is designated for younger kids. Today, my son and I were playing with other kids his age (2.5) when a large group of kids (average age: 8) showed up with two caregivers. The older kids were pushing and shoving on the play structure, creating a danger for younger kids. My question is: is there an age limit imposed for use of that particular playground? My understanding is that it is for kids 5 and under. What can I do to help impose this? It’s definitely a safety issue for smaller children when the older children begin climbing up the slides (yes, inside, and on the outside) and crowding and pushing on the platforms.

Sherwood Oaks Park

Hello. I am a resident near Olcott Park and have noticed what look like lighting fixtures being installed along the trail from Sherwood Oaks Park to Olcott Park. I'd like to make a case against this, as it is extremely damaging to the small ecosystem the forest has. These lights will cause light pollution in an otherwise rather remote area considering its proximity to the city and will disturb bat populations as well as many other night-active animals that require a dark environment to thrive. The trail and woods are a wonderful place to look at the stars at night and go birdwatching, but these lights will disturb these activities. Many ecological programs/studies that take place will also be impacted: there is an event for owl watching that happens in the summer, and the presence of lights in the otherwise dark forest will disrupt this. People tend to sleep and stay in when it is dark in the first place, the lights are not worth the effort to put them in and the damage they will cause. I personally enjoy going for walks in the dark on summer evenings and watching the lightning bugs, an activity I and many other children enjoyed growing up near the park. Please consider this appeal; I am willing to speak in person if needed. Thank you.

All summer long every day except Sunday starting at 7:30 Bryan Park employees used leafblowers on the playgrounds for 15 or more minutes. These are a source of air and noise pollution. What was being cleaned up? Dust? Leaves? For those, push room are faster, more effective, and non-polluting. Please consider not using gas-powered blowers in city parks, at least in summer.
